**Job Title: Procurement Lead**
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Procurement Strategy and Planning**:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies for construction phase materials, equipment, and services, ensuring alignment with project timelines, budgets, and quality requirements.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project needs and identify cost-effective procurement solutions.
- **Supplier Management**:
- Identify and qualify suppliers of materials, equipment, and services for construction, focusing on quality, cost, and reliability.
- Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers, ensuring favorable terms for the project and compliance with industry standards.
- Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors, ensuring timely delivery and problem resolution as needed.
- **Procurement Execution**:
- Manage the entire procurement lifecycle, including issuing RFQs (Requests for Quotation), conducting bid analysis, negotiating contracts, and issuing purchase orders.
- Ensure all materials and equipment are procured within budget and delivered on time to meet construction milestones.
- Track procurement progress and report on key metrics (e.g., costs, delivery timelines, quality issues).
- **Compliance and Risk Management**:
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with local, provincial, and federal regulations, including environmental and safety standards specific to the mining industry.
- Identify and mitigate procurement-related risks, such as supply chain disruptions, material shortages, or vendor performance issues.
- **Budget and Cost Control**:
- Monitor and control procurement-related expenditures, ensuring cost optimization while meeting quality and schedule requirements.
- Prepare and present regular budget updates and cost forecasts to project leadership.
- **Team Leadership and Collaboration**:
- Lead and mentor a small team of procurement professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, construction teams, and other departments to ensure seamless procurement coordination across the project.
- **Continuous Improvement**:
- Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes, streamline workflows, and introduce innovative procurement practices that enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in procurement, with at least 3 years in a leadership role in a construction or mining environment.
- Proven experience in procurement for large-scale construction projects, preferably in the mining or energy sector.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience in contract management.
- Knowledge of Canadian procurement regulations, industry standards, and supply chain management best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on cost management and risk mitigation.
- Proficiency with procurement software, ERP systems, and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
**Work Location & Conditions**
This is an office-based job, in Skeena’s Corporate office located in Vancouver, British Columbia or Smithers, British Columbia on a Monday to Friday schedule. Additionally, the job is in a fast paced, and at times stressful working environment, with having to manage multiple competing priorities. Some flexibility in work location may be considered.
