- **SALARY**: $72,233 - $96,738 per annum
- **POSITION LOCATION**: Notre Dame Campus (Winnipeg, MB)
- **DUTIES**
As part of the Human Resources team, the Disability Management Specialist applies expertise in the development and delivery of disability management programs and services, and all related practices and standards. This includes rehabilitation assessments, case management and accommodations, with emphasis on stay at work/early return to work programs. The Disability Management Specialist will work with Human Resources, managers and medical providers to create individualized return to work plans. They will monitor the effectiveness of return to work (RTW) or accommodation plans, and initiate changes or adjust as required. This role oversees the Long-Term Disability program, Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) and Workers Compensation Board (WCB) claims as they relate to employees. The Disability Management Specialist is responsible for the development and maintenance of training, policies and procedures that facilitate effective program results. This position will collaborate with Human Resource Consultants, Pay and Benefits Specialists and Safety and Health Services to ensure disability management programs and related activities are in compliance with legislation and the collective agreement.
- **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
- Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP), Certified Return to Work Coordinator (CRTWC) designation: a combination of education and experience may be considered
- Extensive experience as a disability specialist and case manager supporting complex cases of physical and psychological illness and injury, as well as developing individualized accommodation and return to work plans
- Experience managing WCB, MPI and Long-term disability claim processes
- Strong understanding of Collective Agreements, benefit policies, PHIA, Workplace Health and Safety Act, disability guidelines and Human Rights legislation as they relate to disability management
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong mediation and negotiation skills with the ability to handle conflict with tact and professionalism
- Extensive knowledge of medical/treatment terminology related to disability and vocational rehabilitation
- Advanced interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to handle difficult conversations and emotional situations with diplomacy and professionalism.
- Experience developing programs, policies, and training for disability management activities
- Broad knowledge of Human Resource Principles
- Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement
**ASSET QUALIFICATIONS**
- Experience providing disability management case management services in a unionized environment
**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**
- Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends
- May be required to work at various RRC Polytech campuses
- This position may be required to work overtime
- Incumbent must provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Records Check
