Human Resource Consultant, Wellness

The Human Resource Consultant, Wellness & Disability Management, provides leadership and expertise on organizational health and wellness and supports all disability management activities. The incumbent provides advice and consultation to staff, leadership and Executive Management on human resource matters, specifically related to the development and maintenance of organizational wellness and the administration of disability management activities.
**Job Duties**:
Identifies and develops organizational wellness strategies where wellness can have a direct impact on organizational effectiveness such as employee engagement, productivity and overall health. Includes aligning programs and services to assist in promoting individual and organizational health. Identifies, develops and maintains mental health activities to assist achieving the CSA National Standards for Psychological Health and Safety.
Coordinates and administers the Disability Management Program including but not limited to, working with various stakeholders to identify reasonable accommodations, develop, implement and monitor safe and timely return to work plans, evaluate outcomes and revise plans as required, maintain pertinent documentation for each case, monitor activities of external service providers and reviewing and approving all external disability management plans.
Ensures compliance with the collective agreement, applicable legislation and case law pertaining to health and disability management.
Acts as a representative for the WCB on wellness issues; liaises and collaborates with various external organizations. Establishes and maintains working relationships with external organizations and experts in the HR field to ensure ongoing awareness of the latest trends and developments in the areas of organizational wellness and disability management.
Collects, maintains and evaluates statistics on wellness and disability management programs and services. Makes recommendations on ways to improve or enhance associated services by analysing data and identifying trends. Includes the analysis for benefit utilization to target wellness programs and services.
Develops and maintains standard measures and metrics to track wellness and disability management performance.
Leads the Wellness Committee to plan, implement and coordinate wellness activities.
Recommends appropriate updates and adjustments to policies, procedures and programs to support employee and organizational wellness.
Manages third party service providers, vendor contracts as well as Wellness and Disability Management budgets.
Pursues professional and personal development through continuing education and training, literature reviews, workshops, seminars, etc.
Performs other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**:
University Degree in Commerce or Business with a focus in Human Resource Management or a related discipline
Five (5) years recent and related human resource experience with a focus in organizational wellness and disability management, preferably in a unionized environment
Knowledge of vocational rehabilitation or case management or disability management programs, policies, procedures and principles
Knowledge of Manitoba Labour Law, Employment Standards, Human Rights legislation and collective agreement administration
Proficiency in the use of a personal computer and software in a Windows environment
Research, initiative, planning and organizing, analytical and problem solving skills
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, including facilitation, presentation and public speaking skills
Advanced analytical and problem solving skills to develop creative approaches and solutions for resolving complex issues
Ability to display tact, diplomacy and good judgement and to maintain confidentiality
Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with all levels of internal and external stakeholders including the ability to collaborate and influence effectively
Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple demands and adapt to organizational change
Ability to generate innovative solutions to work situations
Ability to work independently and make a positive contribution within a team environment
Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP) or Certified Return to Work Coordinator (CRWC) accreditation or Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) would be considered an asset
Ability to communicate proficiently in both official languages (English & French) is an asset, but is not required
