Buyer Home and Garden -Indoor and Outdoor Living - Full Time

West Coast Gardens is looking for a talented and enthusiastic buyer for our outdoor home and garden categories. The buyer is responsible for creating an exciting, timely and quality product assortment. Intuitively responding to customer feedback, market trends and to develop action plans that drive growth and increase profitability.

West Coat Gardens is a leading year-round garden centre retailer in Surrey B.C Canada and is a brand that supports artistic endeavors and focuses on the creative process and originality. West Coast Gardens is building on our unique lifestyle brand with a compelling assortment of products that complements our indoor and outdoor plants and garden assortments.

**Responsibilities**
- Support strategy building, assortment planning, product development, sampling, sourcing, and in-season stock management to maximize sales and profits.
- Develop strong relationships with our vendor partners and negotiate to secure best pricing, availability and promotional support.
- Focus on catalogue expansion: onboard new partners, introduce new categories and identify assortment gaps.
- Stay current and well-informed on current trends in the marketplace to recommend new business opportunities.
- Perform category analysis and monitor sales to develop actions and strategies based on sales trends.
- Leverage technology and data to drive a better customer shopping experience.
- Strategize and execute in-store merchandising to excite and inspire the customer, producing strong sales.
- Collaborate with the store manager for seasonal merchandising change over execution of merchandising plan.
- Support digital marketing team with content in promoting product.

**Qualifications**
- 3+ years buying experience in home decor and home furnishings.
- 3+ years retail sales and/or merchandising experience.
- 3+ years vendor price negotiation experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Design background preferred.
- Global sourcing experience preferred.
- Previous experience working for a premier home furnishing/decor and/or interior design company preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships both internally and externally.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in a group setting.
- Ability to adapt to frequent changes and operate in a fast-paced environment.

Full Time Buyer Wage Range $ 25.00 to $ 32.00 per hour, based on experience.
