Accounting Assistant

The Financial Operations department is looking for a motivated individual to join our Accounts Payable team. The team is composed of several Accounts Payable Assistants, each managing an assigned group of suppliers while collaborating to meet deadlines. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date supplier accounts, ensuring timely and accurate payment of obligations.
**Key Responsibilities**:
Support NAIT staff and external suppliers with invoice and payment processing inquiries
Set up and maintain supplier accounts in PeopleSoft Finance as needed
Reconcile vendor statements and manage items received but not yet vouchered
Process the weekly cheque run efficiently and accurately
**Perform other related duties, including but not limited to**:
General Journal entries
System testing for upgrades and improvements
**Skills & Abilities**:
Demonstrated ability to work within a team
Excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent time management skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Exceptional oral and written communication skills
**Qualifications**:
**Related post-secondary diploma (for example**: finance, accounting, business administration, etc.)
3-5 years related experience, experience with PeopleSoft in a post-secondary environment would be an asset
Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and practices is required
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).
**Remuneration**: $57,932.94 - $73,528.00 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification - Finance/Accounting Assistant II)
This position is covered by the AUPE (Alberta Union of Provincial Employees) Collective Agreement.
