Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) is looking for an individual like you for the role of Medical Laboratory Assistant 1. Working along with other Health Care Professionals, the Laboratory Assistant 1 will provide laboratory support to the Misericordia Community Hospital in Edmonton. In this role, your primary responsibilities include phlebotomy for adults, children, and infants using both macro and micro techniques. You will also be accessioning patient specimens, troubleshooting problem specimens, and performing reception duties. You have excellent computer literacy. Previous experience with healthcare information systems is an asset. Equally comfortable working independently and as part of a team, you can develop and maintain positive working relationships with your colleagues and other healthcare professionals you may interact with. You have good judgement and decision-making skills and will conduct yourself according to the Alberta Health Services Code of Conduct and the APL Values of Kindness, Inclusion, Innovation, Agility, and Accuracy.

**Required Qualifications**:
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
**Additional Required Qualifications**:
Recent phlebotomy experience (within one year). Formal urinalysis training course required or current equivalent experience (within 5 years). Equivalency is defined as completion of a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) and/or Combined Laboratory and Xray Technologist (CLXT) program in Canada; completion of a Medical Lab Technician/Technologist program outside of Canada; and/or MLT or CLXT students who have completed their phlebotomy training/rotation.
**Preferred Qualifications**:
Competency with the EPIC Information System.
