**Manager of Recreation**:
**(Exempt, Full-time, Regular)**

The City of Pitt Meadows is hiring a full-time Manager of Recreation to manage, coordinate, and oversee the general operations of the Recreation Department. Reporting to the Director of Parks, Recreation and Culture, this position is a key managerial role for the City and ensures delivery of high-quality recreational programs and services to our community.

Regular working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm, with a 37.5 hour workweek. Due to operational needs, this position may be required to work evenings and weekends as required. This position is eligible for our Earned Day Off Program and Remote Work Arrangement.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
Recreational Programming and Services
- Researches new opportunities for recreation programs and adapts existing methods.
- Gathers information on community needs to lead long-range planning.
- Leads implementation and administration of recreational, social, and leisure activities for various ages and special interest groups.
- Approves scheduling and evaluation or programs while ensuring coordinated use of facilities.
- Directs the promotional and advertising strategies of recreational events and programs.
- Prepares annual operating and capital budgets for review and approval by superiors. Monitors these budgets to ensure effective utilization of resources.

Leadership and Personnel Management
- Hires, coaches, disciplines and, when required, provides insights into termination decisions.
- Plans, assigns, supervises, and develops recreation staff.
- Provides guidance and recognition to motivate staff to achieve their highest levels of performance.
- Completes or assists with probationary evaluations, performance reviews, and other performance-related processes.
- Establishes and maintains effective coordination with team through strong communication skills.
- Promotes a culture of collaboration, customer focus, and quality of product and service.

Public Engagement
- Engages with external groups, organizations, and agencies to work collaboratively in serving the local community.
- Administers fee-for-service agreements, contracts, and program evaluations to determine effectiveness and participation rates.
- Promotes and maintains a strong focus on customer service built on trust and respect.
- Engages with various special interest groups and diverse communities to enhance recreation offerings.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- University graduation in Recreation Management, Leisure Studies, or a related discipline supplemented by courses in recreation education, community development and business management.
- Five years of full-time experience including at least one year of experience at a senior leadership level with responsibility for program development and coordination, staff supervision and facility management OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Ability to train, supervise, and evaluate the work of staff at various levels.
- Ability to prepare budgets and maintain financial records.
- Effective communication and customer service skills.
- Experience gathering and analyzing information in a recreational setter to prepare concise reports, presentation, and other materials related to the work.
- Experience in a municipal or union environment is considered an asset.
- Driver’s License valid in the Province of British Columbia.
