**Opportunity**:
MacEwan University is seeking a Writing Centre Programs Specialist for a full-time continuing opportunity to join our Writing & Learning Services, Library department.
Reporting to the Manager, Library Operations, and working closely with the Writing Centre Librarian and Writing Centre Coordinator, you will be responsible for reviewing, updating, developing, implementing, and maintaining Writing Centre materials, resources, and learning objects. You will also play a key role in delivering existing Writing Centre programming and contribute to the planning, research, and development of innovative new programs that promote student success.
Aligned with the broader goals of the Learning and Engagement unit, including initiatives like the Makerspace, you will support the design and implementation of forward-thinking programming that enhances teaching and learning at MacEwan.
This role also includes delivering workshops and group instruction on topics related to academic writing and Writing Centre services. You will assist with training Writing Centre tutors and provide backup support to the Writing Centre team as needed.
Additionally, you will actively contribute to the advancement of digital scholarship by collaborating with librarians and staff to integrate digital tools and platforms into writing instruction. This may include co-developing workshops and resources that support writing for public audiences—such as blog posts, policy briefs, op-eds, and multimedia storytelling.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering workshops and group instruction on academic writing and Writing Centre services;
- Planning, researching, and developing innovative programming aligned with Library initiatives (e.g., Makerspace, Teaching and Learning);
- Collaborating on digital scholarship projects using digital tools for public-facing writing (e.g., blogs, op-eds, multimedia);
- Prioritizing accessibility, creativity, and equity in research communication;
- Supporting writing skill development for diverse learners, including EAL students;
- Co-developing and implementing annual marketing and promotion plans;
- Creating, updating, and maintaining educational materials (e.g., tutorials, videos, infographics, modules);
- Evaluating resources for quality, accessibility, cost, security, and licensing;
- Maintaining Writing Centre operations during coordinator absence, including tutor supervision and emergency response;
- Assisting with tutor training, professional development, and service assessment;
- Involving tutors in workshop and small-group instruction planning and delivery; and
- Helping update and align training materials with CRLA certification standards.

- Proven ability to deliver accessible, inclusive, and engaging educational programming;
- Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in dynamic or changing environments;
- Excellent organizational and planning skills, with a track record of managing projects, setting priorities, and meeting deadlines; and
- Outstanding communication skills, including writing, listening, research, and public speaking.
