- As an Environmental Coordinator, you will play a critical role in supporting project teams to achieve and maintain full compliance with environmental legislation, contractual requirements, and other project-specific conditions and commitments. With your communication, collaboration, and adaptability skills, your work will help foster a positive and proactive culture of environmental awareness and regulatory responsibility within your project team and the entire Pomerleau family. This is a fully site based role.
- What you will do:
Report to the Project Environmental Manager and/or the Project Manager and/or the Regional Environmental Manager (reporting structure will depend on project assignment and allocation).
Deliver environmental awareness training to project personnel, including subcontractors.
Participate in toolbox talks, field kickoff meetings, and construction coordination meetings.
Monitor construction activities for environmental and regulatory compliance by documenting observations, the implementation of good practices, opportunities for improvement, instances of non-compliance, and generally collect evidence in support of compliance.
Execute sampling plans for soil and water, in accordance with provincial and federal guidance documents, to collect environmental quality data that, as environmental metrics, can be tracked as a performance indicator.
Respond to and participate in environmental emergencies including those that are both unplanned and uncontrolled and result in, or have the potential to result in, impacts to receiving environments.
Generate routine, but thorough, environmental monitoring reports, environmental incident reports, and spill reports.

This role could be for you if you have:
Bachelor’s degree (or diploma) in Environmental Science, Engineering, Biology, Geology, Sustainable Development, or a related field.
Qualified Environmental Professional (i.e., you are applied scientist, Engineer or technologist who is registered and in good standing in British Columbia with an appropriate professional organization) or in process of applying.
5+ years of relevant experience working in the construction industry with a specific emphasis on marine infrastructure development and/or marine adjacent works (i.e, dredging, marine piling and/or blasting, infilling, etc.)
Including experience developing and/or implementing comprehensive marine mammal monitoring and/or underwater noise monitoring programs.
Working knowledge of Provincial and Federal environmental legislation, guidelines, and recognized Best Management Practices.
Advanced field skills - This is a fully site based role in Victoria, BC.
Equally a self starter and team player.
