**Position Summary**
Reporting to the Manager, Government Relations, the Grants and Proposal Development Officer plays a critical role in advancing the College’s external funding efforts by guiding and executing the development of high-impact grant and proposal submissions that align with the intuition’s strategic priorities.
**Responsibilities**
- Guide and execute the development and submission of high-quality grant proposals aligned with institutional priorities and funding agency requirements.
- Write and edit persuasive proposal content, including need statements, project descriptions, evaluation frameworks, and institutional overviews.
- Customize standard language and institutional content for different funders and funding streams.
- Coordinate internal timelines, workflows, and document gathering to ensure timely and complete submissions.
- Support outreach, communication, and relationship-building with funders throughout the grant lifecycle and beyond.
- Scan for external funding opportunities and advise internal stakeholders on strategic fit and institutional alignment.
- Monitor and evaluate government, foundation, and sector-specific funding programs.
- Advise on proposal scope, funder alignment, and competitive positioning in collaboration with the Manager and relevant departments and stakeholders across the College at all levels.
- Maintain strong knowledge of institutional priorities and funding landscapes to guide proposal planning.
- Support cross-departmental collaboration and build internal capacity for successful grant development.
- Provide guidance and consultation to faculty and staff on grant structure, funder expectations, and effective storytelling.
- Facilitate proposal planning meetings and coordinate inputs across academic and administrative units.
- Contribute to training sessions, resource development, and onboarding materials to support grant literacy across the institution.
- Foster a collaborative, service-oriented approach to proposal support.
- Develop and maintain a narrative library of reusable proposal content such as templates, boilerplate language, case studies, and data points.
- Track proposal activity, funding success rates, and outcome metrics using internal systems.
- Support the preparation of internal reports and insights to inform strategic planning and future grant readiness.
- Assist with post-submission activities such as revisions, funder responses, and coordination.
- Support post-award requirements with funders, including agreement signing and reporting obligations.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
**Qualifications/Experience**
- Three-year degree/diploma in Public/Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Communications, English, or another related field; or a combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Professional certification or courses in grant writing, project management, or proposal development will be considered an asset.
- Demonstrated experience developing complex proposals with multiple contributors and deadlines.
- Experience liaising with diverse stakeholders, including academic departments, administration, and external funding agencies.
- Strong knowledge of government, foundation
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, persuasive, and tailored content for a variety of audiences.
- Proven project coordination and organizational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple concurrent proposals and timelines effectively.
- Ability to interpret complex guidelines and translate them into actionable steps for proposal teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and collaborative platforms, such as SharePoint, Teams, and/or grant management systems.
