Crime Prevention Coordinator

**Position Summary**: The Crime Prevention Coordinator will provide intensive prevention and intervention programming to address crime-related issues in Wetaskiwin and surrounding areas. Responsibilities include conducting intake assessments, connecting clients to services, providing court support, and developing transition plans. The Coordinator will collaborate with RCMP and other stakeholders to facilitate Mental Health Diversion programs and work closely with other service providers and community partners to ensure coordinated support for clients.
**Primary Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Provide direct delivery of justice prevention and intervention programming to youth and adults ages 16+
- Work within the Integrated Response Hub to respond to clients experiencing justice issues
- Increase the region's capacity to support clients with justice issues
- Provide pre and post-charge support to divert, connect, and facilitate responses to active justice issues
- Support clients in attending court, completing community sentences, and meeting probation stipulations
- Facilitate transportation and accompaniment to and from court and incarceration
- Create transition plans for client’s post-incarceration
- Collaborate with RCMP to facilitate Mental Health Diversion
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, or related field
- Experience working with vulnerable populations and individuals involved in the justice system
- Knowledge of restorative justice principles and practices
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and community partners
- Understanding of cultural sensitivity and diversity issues
- Must have strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspaces, database management, communication technologies, and a willingness to adapt to new technologies for remote service delivery and data security.

- Standard First Aid Level C with AED
- Class 5 Driver’s License with a Driver’s Abstract - 3 years of insured driving
- Automobile Authorization for Alberta Motor Vehicle Record - **must be at fault accident free for 3 years**:
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

**Working Conditions**:
- The Crime Prevention Coordinator will primarily work in an office setting, but may also travel to attend meetings, court sessions, and other events related to the program. Head Office is in Camrose. Service locations are in Wetaskiwin
- The position may require occasional evening and weekend work to accommodate client needs and community events.
- The Coordinator will work closely with clients who may be experiencing challenging situations, including mental health issues, addiction, and homelessness.
- The role involves frequent interaction with stakeholders, community partners, and clients, requiring strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- The Coordinator may need to adhere to strict confidentiality protocols when dealing with sensitive client information.
- The Coordinator will be expected to adhere to safety protocols and guidelines, especially when working in potentially volatile or unsafe environments.
**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months
Pay: From $21.00 per hour
