The Phase 3 Clerkship Site Lead, Pediatrics (Sudbury), is a physician who serves as a contact person for the Associate Dean, Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) and/or delegate and clerkship students at NOSM University (NOSM U). They are responsible for ensuring clerkship students are receiving a high-quality educational experience in a safe learning environment during each Pediatrics core rotation.

**Reporting**:
The Phase 3 Clerkship Site Lead, Pediatrics (Sudbury), reports to the Associate Dean, UME. Collegial and collaborative supervision, leadership and guidance, including delegation of the tasks and contribution to performance review, will be by the Assistant Dean, Clinical Education.

**Responsibilities**:

- Ensures, personally or through other faculty and staff, that clerkship students are oriented to the specific clerkship for which they are Lead.
- Provides a clerkship schedule or schedule template to the hospital coordinators and/or ensures that a clerkship schedule be provided in a timely fashion to students and Phase 3 Clerkship Coordinator.
- Ensures that the Phase 3 Duty Hours and On-Call Policy is followed.
- Answers questions about the clerkship for clerkship faculty and provides overall leadership to faculty members within the specialty.
- Ensures that students have access to required clinical learning experiences (or that alternative experiences are available) and monitors student progress as the rotation progresses as per Element 6.2 of the CACMS Accreditation Standards.
- Ensures that students receive feedback early enough in during the rotation to allow sufficient time for improvement as per Element 9.7 of the CACMS Accreditation Standards.
- Ensures the completion of student assessment forms at the end of each core rotation as per the Phase 3 Promotion and Reassessment Remediation Plan. The Clerkship Lead will ensure that all assessment items are completed no later than 6 weeks after the rotation has ended as per Element 9.8 of the CACMS Accreditation Standards.
- Ensures that students and faculty are familiar with UME policies that govern medical education including duty hours/ on-call policy, blood borne pathogen (needlestick) policy, leave of absence policy, mistreatment procedure and other policies pertinent to phase 3 students.
- Regularly reviews academic session content and delivery to ensure that objectives are covered and that sessions occur as scheduled.
- Contribute to the annual review of clerkship objectives in collaboration with Theme committees.
- Works in collaboration with hospital site academic affairs staff as needed to ensure consistent experience for students.
- Regularly monitors the rotation learning environment to ensure student, faculty and patient safet
- Regularly reviews and addresses needs identified in program evaluation data with a continuing quality improvement approach.
- Interacts with Clerkship Lead in the same discipline on the other campus (Thunder Bay) clerkship to share best practices and common learning opportunities.
- Interact with students to address career or elective questions as needed.
- Identifies needs for continuing education and professional development of faculty to the Associate Dean, UME, and NOSM U CEPD.
- Regularly attend monthly Phase 3 Committee meetings.

**Qualifications**:
**Education**:

- Doctor of Medicine degree
- Possession of a current license to practice medicine in the province of Ontario
- Must have (or be eligible for) a faculty appointment at NOSM U

**Language**:

- Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbally, written and comprehension)
- French/Indigenous language skills would be considered asset

**Remuneration**:

- As per the stipendiary faculty remuneration process

**Time Commitment**:

- Two (2.0) days per month
