**Job Summary**
We are seeking a detail-oriented Shop Assistant to join our team. The Shop Assistant will support the shop operations by assisting with various tasks and ensuring the smooth running of daily activities.

**Job Description/Responsibilities**
- Assists workers engaged in fabrication of structural or sheet metal products, performing any combination of following tasks: Lifts, positions, and removes workpieces from machines to assist in fitting and welding.
- Tape and rods and marks reference points to assist in layout.
- Loads, stacks, and transports stock, tools, dies, and work in process by hand or other devices.
- To prepare workpiece for moving by crane or jib.
- Cleans and scrapes metal preparatory to fabricating, welding, painting, or shipping, using scraping tool, abrasive, or placing in solvent bath.
- Picks up and trucks scrap from work areas and maintaining a clean work area.
- May cut, grind or chip excess metal from metal products using hand tools.
- Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
- Follow health and safety protocols and communicate with team members.
- Ability to lift and manipulate large metal objects, approximately 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, crouch, and occasionally lift heavy equipment.
- Must be a dedicated team player.
- Participate in continual training and development.
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized workspace or assembly station
- Assisting other assembler when required.
- Additional related duties may be requested from time to time by our VP-Plant Manager and our Assistant Shop Manager

**Requirements**:

- 2 years experience
- Experience or willingness to learn machining techniques
- Familiarity with forklift operation is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions closely
