**Nature of the work**

The principal and customary work of an employee in this class of employment consists in carrying out simple tasks in a kitchen or a cafeteria, such as the maintenance of the premises and the equipment, handling and transporting provisions, food and utensils as well as preparing food and serving in the cafeteria. In general, works according to instructions or under the supervision of a cook or head cook of the kitchen or cafeteria.

**Characteristic functions**

The duties of the employee in this class of employment consist in the simple preparation of food, such as peeling and cutting up vegetables, cutting up cheeses and meats, warming up precooked dishes and apportioning food and meals, helping to prepare diets, serving at the counter or in a small restaurant or snack bar, setting up, dismantling and cleaning tables, handling trolleys and carrying food from the storeroom to the kitchen, washing heavy pots and loading dishes in the dishwasher, cleaning work premises, cold storage rooms and disposing of the garbage outside the kitchen.

As part of their duties, the employee may use equipment, such as heating plates or counters and microwave and conventional ovens.

May work as a cashier in a cafeteria or as a vending machine attendant.

If need be, performs any other related duty.

Elle travaille généralement selon les directives ou sous la surveillance d'une cuisinière ou d'un cuisinier ou d'une ou d'un chef de cuisine et de cafétéria.

**Attributions caractéristiques**

La personne salariée de cette classe d'emplois effectue des travaux qui comportent notamment la préparation simple des aliments tels que peler et couper les légumes, couper les fromages et les viandes, réchauffer les mets préparés, la préparation de portions d'aliments et de plats, l'aide à la préparation des diètes, le service au comptoir ou le service dans un petit restaurant ou un casse-croûte, le montage, le démontage et le nettoyage des tables, la manutention des chariots et le transport des aliments de l'entrepôt à la cuisine, le lavage des chaudrons lourds et l'alimentation des machines à laver la vaisselle, le nettoyage des lieux de travail, des chambres froides et l'enlèvement hors de la cuisine des ordures ménagères.

Dans l'exercice de ses fonctions, elle peut utiliser certains équipements tels que les plaques chauffantes, les comptoirs chauffants et les fours micro-ondes ou conventionnels.

Elle peut agir à titre de caissière ou de caissier dans une cafétéria ou à titre de personne préposée aux machines distributrices.

Au besoin, elle accomplit toute autre tâche connexe
