We at Capital Power Corporation are seeking a dynamic Manager who is results-oriented and believes in leading by example to join our IS Infrastructure team.

As the Manager, Server Operations, you will be working as a part of a collaborative group and will be accountable for the maintenance and performance of IS Server Operations at Capital Power. In this role you will be responsible for providing leadership for team activities as well as technical oversight and mentorship. You will be required to split your time equally between people management and hands-on technical work. This role does require on-call and after-hours availability. You will be reporting to the Director, Infrastructure and Operations, and will operate within the context of description outlined below.

You will contribute to our team by
- Leading a team of server experts in providing tier 2 support, problem resolution and responding to service requests for operations.
- Leading the team’s work plans, work prioritization, performance reviews, and building the development plan.
- Providing highly adaptable and customer-focused server management services to all IT teams.
- Ensuring Disaster Recovery documentation and operational procedures are up to date.
- Improving existing operational process with a continuous improvement mind-set by using existing technologies within Capital Power or recommending/implementing new solutions.
- Providing server management services for both operations and capital project initiatives.
- Understanding and following professional IT practices within the Systems Delivery Life Cycle. Practices include creation of solution to a commercial standard of quality and responsiveness, testing, documentation, and source code management.
- Leading and participating in the resolution of technical problem.
- Adhering to and support CSOX controls.
- Ensuring stable operation of server infrastructure by:

- Monitoring and proactively responding to alerts.
- Ensuring systems are up to date and patched.
- Managing a centralized logging system.
- Managing internal and external certificate services.
- Performing and coordinating daily operational activities (ex: daily checks, log reviews, etc.).
- Managing technical changes to ensure risk is handled appropriately.

What you will bring to the role

**Education**:

- Diploma or degree in Information Systems, or related field.

**Experience**:

- Experience in managing and mentoring full time and contract employees.
- 5+ years supporting servers and related infrastructure.

Technical Skills:

- Familiarity with storage and network technologies.
- Knowledge of data centers and experience with physical hardware racking and cabling.
- Experience troubleshooting infrastructure related issues.
- Very strong IS security understanding and ability to manage risk.
- Strong technical documentation skills.
- Self-motivated, organized, customer focused detail-oriented and effective communicator.
- Understanding of mobile device management systems such as Intune.
- Working technical knowledge of key infrastructure components, including:

- Microsoft Active Directory and related Services (Domain Name System, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, Flexible Single Master Operation roles, etc.).
- Microsoft Windows Server (2012, 2016, 2019).
- Microsoft RDSH Server 2012 and 2016.
- Microsoft SCCM and SCOM.
- Microsoft PowerShell Scripting.
- Linux operating systems.
- Authentication services including Active Directory Federation Services.
- Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft Exchange.
- Teams / Skype for Business Online.
- Virtualization Technologies including VMware ESXi, Vsphere, VDI, Horizon.
- Microsoft Azure infrastructure technologies.
- Server Hardware including Dell EMC and Lenovo.
