**Who We Are**

**SUMMARY**

The **Manager, Health, Safety & Environment **assists in addressing occupational health, safety and environmental issues concerning
BGIS or its clients in order to minimize liability, ensure due diligence, ensures compliance with government legislation and fulfillment of contractual environmental health & safety requirements.

**KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Environmental and Health and Safety Management System**
- Implements an environmental management system in compliance with the latest version of ISO 14001 Standard.

**Program Development and Management**:

- Establishes and implements environmental and health and safety program, which will require developing and implementing processes, procedures, work instructions, audit checklists, etc.
- Supports and provides recommendations on Environmental and Health and Safety matters at all levels of the organization
- Maintains ongoing communication with internal and external clients on all environmental matters.
- Provides council on environmental, health and safety matters for all team members.
- Develops, manages and improves related internal audit program for all contracts including the reporting of results to senior management.
- Provides council on environmental and health & safety matters for all client and internal Team Members.
- Develops, executes and improves related internal audit program for all contracts including the reporting of results to senior management.
- Develops, manages, improves and leads and tracks related corporate training programs.
- Develops, manages and improves related corporate early and safe return to work programs.
- Builds HSE-focused culture
- Leads incident investigations for all HSE-related incidents as required
- Identifies new, existing HSE risks and mitigates as necessary
- Participates in client meetings to discuss client requirements. Develops and recommends solutions for client requirements. Facilitates or leads the execution of client requirements with the account or product line team and the client
- Analyzes data from HSE metrics to find underlying risks and develops and implements resolution plans
- Recommends solutions to remediate gaps in HS&E programs and resolves issues
- Leverages external industry research and analysis to give insight on industry trends

**Process Improvement & Strategic Initiatives**:

- Develops and deploys new processes and conducts process audits to determine process effectiveness and to identify areas for improvement.
- Identifies, establishes, implements and communicates performance metrics and measure and report performance results.

**Regulatory Compliance**:

- Ensures BGIS’s compliance with all federal, provincial and local regulations, standards and Best Practices.
- Plans, prepares and implements environmental and Health and safety management and compliance training and employee educational programs.
- Completes visits and reports for compliance and conformance audits as per client and BGIS requirements
- Liaises with Authorities Having Jurisdiction to maintain compliance
- Interprets and advises on regulatory requirements
- HSE Managers are responsible for working with line management to address health and safety issues and document these in non-conformance issues. If significant issues still remain uncorrected, HSE managers must escalate these within the HSE Department for further discussion and resolution.

**KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS**
- Strong knowledge of environmental and health & safety aspects and risksUniversity degree in relevant field
- 8 to 10 years’ experience working with Environmental and Health & Safety programs
- Computer proficiency
