**ABOUT THE POSITION**

Barbarella is looking for a bar prep assistant to fill out their team on a full-time basis (30 - 40 hours per week). The bar prep is responsible for several key functions in the successful operation of the restaurant bar, including preparing batch cocktails, garnishes, and syrups, stocking the bar, maintaining par levels, putting away deliveries and ensuring the bartenders are set up for service. **WHAT WE OFFER**
- Hourly wage: $16.50 per hour

**WHAT YOU’LL DO**
- Assist bar staff in setting up the restaurant, including the preparation of syrups, infusions, garnishes, carbonating, and batching cocktails.
- Follow recipe guides for all drinks with exactness.
- Maintain par levels of all batched stock.
- Communicate with Bar Manager for order requirements.
- Be comfortable handling 50lb CO2 gas cylinders and other stock items weighing up to 50lbs.
- Maintain cleanliness and maintenance of batch kegs.
- Help maintain cleanliness & order of all BOH spaces including, but not limited to stock rooms, walk ins and prep rooms.
- Assist staff in maintaining and stocking supplies including but not limited to retrieving ice, polishing cutlery, running food, clearing tables, and taking payments.
- Assist bartenders with maintaining and stocking all areas of the bar.
- Be ready to answer any questions about beverages or other prep functions and services.
- Lift stock items weighing up to 50lbs.
- Be ready and willing to provide support as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the Bar Manager.
- Execute any other tasks required.

**WHAT YOU HAVE**
- Previous restaurant/bar experience is preferred,
- Previous experience working in a kitchen is considered an asset.
- Strong English communication skills with ability to establish and develop relationships with team members, partners, and customers.
- Basic knowledge of dining room and service procedures and functions.
- Basic math skills, can handle money, and operate a point-of-sale system.
- Valid Alberta ProServe certification obtained within 30 days of starting.
- WHMIS Certification is required but can be obtained once hired.
- Ability to maintain professionalism, control, and composure in difficult and stressful situations.
- Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours).
- Capacity to safely lift and easily maneuver potentially heavy trays of food and drinks.
- Must be over 18 as alcohol service and open scheduling availability is a requirement.
