- **Job Brief**_

Southview Group is looking for a competent individual, who has a great work ethic and can endure several physical tasks throughout the workday. The job requires typical construction type hours with some weeks being less than 40 hours and other weeks very busy requiring 50 plus hours. Travel for short term out of town work assignments and/or training is to be expected. Training will be provided for people with a desire to succeed.
- **Specific Duties**_
- Maintaining all tools and equipment to the required standard
- Able to read and understand conduit plans
- Able to splice/connect micro duct and all different sizes of conduit
- Participating in job observations, near miss and hazard ID reporting, site inspections, monthly safety meetings, and daily pre-job meetings
- Identifying and mitigating safety hazards
- Delivery of material to units in the field if necessary
- Keep job site safe and secure
- Follow instructions from lead hand and foreman/supervisor
- Shovel, rake, tamp material when filling holes
- **Qualifications**_
- A G driver’s license is the minimum requirement needed
- Must have and maintain a clean driver’s abstract
- Must possess and exhibit strong safety acumen and demonstrate safe work practices
- Previous experience on a construction site is an asset
- Previous experience in telecommunications is an asset
- Mechanical inclination an asset
- Must be able to work independently with mínimal supervision
- Ability to operate a mini excavator/skid steer preferred
- First Aid, CSTS, H2S, Fall Protection, Confined Space, OSSA, W.H.M.I.S, Ground Disturbance and Electrical Awareness are preferred
- Operate Southview Hydrovac Inc.’s equipment in a safe and professional manner
- Ability to operate a jumping jack compactor preferred
- Properly document all Company, Federal, Provincial and Customer documentation/paperwork as required by law and or established policy in a clear and legible manner
- Able to effectively and professionally communicate with on-site customer representatives
- **Essential Physical Functions**_
- Hear and distinguish emergency signals and instructions while on duty
- Must be able to repetitively sit, lift, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, reach and crawl
- Must be able to repeatedly lift a minimum of 50 pounds
- Must be able to work in all outdoor elements (rain, snow, heat) for extended periods of time
- Confined Space Entry may be required to accomplish tasks for some clients when applicable
- Be able to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
- Must be capable of working extended hours and variable shifts
- Must be eligible to work in Canada
