We are seeking someone who has had leadership roles in other recreational camps for kids who wish to make a positive impact in the community. The position will include, but is not limited to:

- Collaborating with the Camp Coordinator and Camp Director along with Admin, Camp Leaders, and Volunteers
- Helping to train and mentor staff and volunteers in an engaging way
- Helping to supervise camp to ensure everyone's safety, wellness, and engagement
- Ensuring everyone's safety in and around the water. We swim almost every day at lakes and pools.
- Developing a safe, inclusive, and fun community for all
- Anticipating potential challenges and de-escalating and resolving them

Full time from June 27-August 29

The position will be outdoors, guiding camps. It is suited for someone with extensive experience and training who willhelp lead one of our camps. We are looking for a patient, calm, and collaborative leader. As this job is funded by Canada Summer Jobs, staff need to be between 18-30 years old and Canadian citizens, Permanent residents, or Protected Persons.

Summer camp guides lead out-trips at our Tri-Cities West Camps (Blue Mountain Park, Poirier Pool, Spani Pool, Crash Crawly's, Westhill Park, Mackin Park, Rocky Point, and more), Tri-Cities North Camps (White Pine Beach, Rocky Point, the Coquitlam Aquatic Complex, Poirier Pool, Crash Crawly's (if rain is forecast), and more) or Tri-Cities East Camps (out-trips that we meet at include Park, Town Centre Park, Jungle Jac's, and more. A reliable car is recommended. Shifts are up to 8 hours between 7:50 am - 6:10 pm Monday-Friday. This is a very active role that actively participates in all activities. There is no admin.

Adventure Play Care Society is a non-profit that operates Rainforest Adventure Camps for kids and youth. These camps are outdoors in and around the Tri-cities exploring some of the most beautiful forests, lakes, beaches, and rivers in the area. Our camps seek to further develop participants' independence, leadership, empathy, resilience, and social growth in a fun, safe, and peaceful setting. Our programs are child-centred. Our mission is to inspire, empower, and create community.
