**Volunteer Coordinator**

The Sexual Assault Support Centre of Waterloo Region supports survivors of sexual violence. We listen, facilitate healing, and celebrate resiliency. Using an anti-racist, intersectional feminist approach, we work to transform systems which promote gender-based violence.

**Essential Requirements of Education / Experience**:

- Post-secondary education in social services or a related discipline
- Volunteer Management Certificate is an asset
- 3+ years of relevant experience

**Key Areas of Responsibility**:

- Recruit, train, and develop volunteers in all program areas including, but not limited to, our 24-hour Support Line and Online Chat forum, court support, public education, fundraising, and administration.
- Coordinate, schedule, and ensure coverage on our 24-hour Support Line and Online Chat forum and all related services. The Volunteer Coordinator will need to work hours outside of the regular 9-4:30pm Monday to Friday schedule to ensure Support Line coverage when/if volunteers are unable to cover the required shifts.
- Develop and deliver training curriculum for volunteers.
- Organizes events and recognition initiatives for volunteers.
- Ensure ongoing program development and evaluation.
- Student supervision, as required.

**Knowledge and Skills Required**:

- Proven skills in support, crisis intervention, and advocacy for survivors of sexual violence.
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice work, using an anti-racist, intersectional feminist approach.
- Knowledge of the root causes of gender-based violence.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills, both oral and written.
- Excellent presentation and training skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of volunteerism and community resources.
- Strong assessment and interviewing skills.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and social media software.

**Compensation and Benefits**:
We are a Living Wage employer as defined by the Ontario Living Wage Network. We use a 3.5:1 ratio meaning that the highest paid team member is not paid more than 3.5 times than the lowest paid team member.

Note: Most new team members will start at or close to the entry point of the range. SASC has a 35-hour work week.

Pay Grade: 3

Min: $25.93 per hour; $47,192.60 per annum

Max: $30.50 per hour; $55,510.00 per annum

We have a health benefit plan including Extended Health Care (EHC), Dental, Employee Life Insurance, Dependent’s Life Insurance, Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D), Long-Term Disability (LTD), and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). We pay 100% of health benefit premiums for our full-time staff and their families.

Due to the nature of our work, our staff team start with four weeks of vacation. We also have 125 hours of paid time off per year. These amounts are pro-rated based on the team member's start date.

We offer RRSP matching after one year of employment.

**JOB DESCRIPTION - VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR**

**Job Purpose**:
Our Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, training, supervising, and supporting the volunteers in all of SASC’s program areas, including coordinating our 24-Hour Support Line, Online Chat Support and related services.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Volunteer Coordinator
- Responsible for volunteer recruitment, training, scheduling, supporting and retaining volunteers in all of SASC’s program areas including, but not limited to our 24-hour Support Line, our Online Chat Support, court support, public education, fundraising and administration.
- Ensure timely onboarding and offboarding of volunteers.
- Ensure volunteer positions have job descriptions and basic role requirements are being met.
- Develop and enhance existing curriculum for our volunteers to ensure comprehensive training. Engage program staff to ensure our curriculum meets current and emerging needs.
- Facilitate regular volunteer training to ensure SASC’s volunteer positions are filled, with a focus on 24-hour Support Line volunteers.
- Ensure volunteer recruitment processes and volunteer training curriculum reflect SASC’s anti-racist, intersectional feminist values.
- Manage volunteer files, and keep volunteer lists current.
