**Position Summary**:
Temporary Full-Time Appendix D Support Staff replacement contract position (Immediate need - October 30, 2026)
The International Transition Coordinator (ITC) plays a critical role in the successful transition of international students to Canada, Conestoga College, and the local community. This position facilitates all aspects of pre-semester, pre-arrival and settlement advising that supports students with initial on-boarding, orientation and ongoing services. The ITC also provides post-arrival and settlement support on an as-needed basis to international students during and after their initial on-boarding and settlement. This includes assessing student needs or concerns; problem-solving; providing resources; and making appropriate referrals both internally (within the college) and externally (throughout the community).
**Responsibilities**:
- Ensure international students are provided with the necessary tools, information, and resources to successfully transition to Conestoga and their new community prior to and after arrival
- Act as the first point of contact for international students to address their unique needs in transition through the development and implementation of tailored services
- Develop, organize, and facilitate early welcome and on-boarding events to enhance other college initiatives
- Participate in college-wide, virtual student program orientations and other in-person orientation events and initiatives
- Work with student staff and volunteers to establish a strong connection to the international student community through various outreach activities such as social media, listserv messaging, videos, workshops, website, and other social media postings
- Support international students in areas such as cultural adjustment, transitional strategies, and overall settlement
- Facilitate appropriate college connections and referrals to support student concerns and needs
- Participate in the “classroom visit” program as requested by faculty
- Provide information and explanation regarding the International Student Emergency Bursary Funds program
- Follow up with students regarding arrival plans, information confirmation and missing requirements requests to ensure students’ readiness and approval to begin studies
- Support soon-to-be graduates with tools, resources, and information to help them transition from Conestoga to the wider community
- Develop and disseminate a comprehensive portfolio of information, resources and referrals related to housing in accordance with the Residential Tenancies Act and Landlord and Tenant Board procedures; respond to queries from potential and current students, agents, recruiters, and other interested parties
- Create and maintain a current database of emergency housing options
- Help to build an off-campus peer-to-peer initiative that facilitates connections for housing help under the direction of the Manager
- Assist with hiring, training, and supervising student housing peers, staff or volunteers
- Create and maintain informational resources and learning activities (e.g., transition workshops, information sessions, text resources, etc.)
- Liaise and collaborate with various stakeholders, including other college departments, community organizations, external stakeholders, and Transition Coordinators across campuses
- Maintain records and statistics; analyze quantitative and qualitative data; evaluate effectiveness of initiatives against defined outcomes; develop reports and make recommendations to support continuous improvement
- Research best practice models for international student transition support
- Build awareness of International Office Services and supports during the academic cycle through timely communications to faculty, staff and students
- Represent the college on relevant college and community committees
- Develop and maintain training manuals and department policy and procedure notes as a basis for new staff training
**Qualifications**:
- Three-year diploma/degree in business, social sciences, arts, student services, international studies, education or a related field of study is required
- Minimum of three years demonstrated experience working with students or newcomers to Canada is required; experience in a post-secondary setting preferred
- Excellent judgement, strong problem-solving and interpersonal communication skills to work with diverse student populations (as defined in the Human Rights Charter)
- Experience with volunteer mentoring, program development, implementation and evaluation is an asset
- Public speaking experience
