**DESCRIPTION**
- We’re looking for an experienced Researcher who demonstrates a passion and a strong track record in computer vision, sensor fusion, object recognition and 3D motion analysis for field robotics.Do you- Know advanced motion systems for field robotics inside and out?

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Advance the development of autonomous, assistive and teleoperation technologies for log-loading operations
- Develop, propose, and conduct research projects and contracts for industry nationwide with different internal teams / external partners
- Understand the issues faced by timber harvesting teams and propose solutions that bring clear, impactful benefits to members
- Contribute to the growth of innovation to improve forestry practices
- Validate vigorously these innovations to facilitate their implementation in Canada's major forest ecosystems
- Write detailed reports and present them to clients in a summary format that clearly displays the impact of the work and the gains delivered to clients
- Be a trusted collaborator in safety matters; adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Master’s degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Sciences or related field of expertise, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Training and industry experience with computer vision, localization, odometry, SLAM, and motion systems
- Member of a professional engineering order/association
- Valid driver’s permit and availability to travel across Canada

**SKILLS**
- Team player, curious and focused on improving the forest industry
- Great at solving problems, debugging, troubleshooting, designing and implementing solutions to complex technical issues and has a knack for driving impact and growth
- Good AI knowledge and experience
- Robotics related research and development experience (e.g., mobile robots, manipulators, drones, humanoids, autonomous driving)
- Basic knowledge of machine learning/deep learning techniques and data-driven modeling
- Fundamentals of ROS development (desirable)
- Detailed knowledge of any of the building blocks of autonomy pipeline (e.g., perception, path planning, localization, control)
- Solid programming skills and good knowledge of scripting languages and open-source library (C/C++, Python)
- Knowledge and experience on ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online
- Fluency in English and in French (written and spoken) and ability to synthesize the impact of the results of their work for various audiences (university, contractor, client, etc.)
- Resilience and adaptability to changing priorities
- Project management experience
- Ability to work on several projects simultaneously and autonomously, strong organizational skills and sense of initiative
- Positive attitude and openness to learn
