**Job Description**: We are excited to announce that Island Health is offering an employer sponsored education program to join our Anesthesia Assistants team, with educational training beginning in March 2025 This program combines online curriculum through Thompson Rivers University and a paid clinical practicum at Island Health. Our Anesthesia Assistants are key members of an integrated surgical team and provide technical support and clinical assistance with induction, maintenance and recovery phases of anesthesia. What you need to know: - Successful applicants will need to be actively enrolled in the Thompson River University (TRU) Anesthesia Assistant post-diploma program and complete the entrance requirements and course load required. - Students will need to write the placement exam for the Anesthesia Assistant program. Once registered, students have until 27 January 2025 to write and pass the exam ANES 0011 Anesthesia Assistant Placement Exam (zero credit). - Island Health will reimburse employees for entrance exam fees, books and tuition charged by TRU after successful completion of the training program. The Specialty Education Program will take approximately 12 months to complete. These are funded full time positions (the "Training Period") and Island Health will pay employees awarded the Training Lines as per the Wage Schedule of the HSPBA Collective Agreement upon commencing work in the Training Lines. **QUALIFICATIONS**: **Education, Training And Experience**: Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program. One year of critical care experience or two years' experience in an acute care environment. Active enrollment in the Thompson River University (TRU) Anesthesia Assistant post-diploma program.
