Exciting news to share

South Island Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Training Program is being offered through Island Health. The cohort start date is March 2025 and will run approximately March 24 to August 22, 2025. Program combines online curriculum through VIU, and clinical practicum at Island Health Sites VGH and RJH.

What you need to know:

- Are you an Island Health employee under the Facilities Bargaining Agreement (FBA) looking to further your career with Island Health?
- We are excited to announce that, Island Health is offering an employer sponsored education program to join our Medical Device Reprocessing team.
- This program is full time employer paid. All tuition, fees, and costs of necessary books are paid for on behalf of the participants. Students enrolled in the program will also receive a weekly stipend.
- Available to all existing Island Health FBA employees.
- Our Medical Device Reprocessing Technicians work closely with the RNs and support staff to ensure instruments and equipment are ready for use when needed.
- Our perioperative units are state of the art, and allow our multidisciplinary teams provide a comprehensive array of services across the Vancouver Island, with the Operating Room and Endoscopy department being our largest customers.
- Successful participants are required to complete a six-month return of service period (ROS period) working as a MDRT at Island Health.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
Grade 12 (or acceptable equivalent); Grade 12 English with C or better or assessment by VIU; Completion of Medical Terminology (OSME002) or equivalent, Completion of Interpersonal Skills for Health Care Workers (HHIP001) or equivalent.

Please note these courses are available through VIU as follows:

- Medical Terminology and Anatomy & Physiology course runs online from 6 January - 20 April.
