Baggage System Specialist

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Set baggage system performance indicators and audit system performance of mechanical/electrical equipment, sortation controls/software, low-level controls, and operational perspective, by extracting historical and real time data and analyzing the reports
- Lead continuous improvement efforts through collaboration with groundhandlers, regulatory agencies, IT, Engineering, Maintenance, and other operational stakeholders; this also includes taking the lead in major incident investigation and root cause analysis
- Assess impacts of projects, maintenance or other in system activities on operations or performance to baggage systems and partner’s operations; engage and execute on system change activities where required
- Document and maintain operating principles, business rule and system configuration parameters; establish a change control and communication protocol
- Develop training strategy and facilitate training programs on new and existing processes to various operational/maintenance groups and stakeholders
- Coordinate baggage system condition assessments and support the development of an asset management program for baggage operations
- Provide input and review of the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's)
- Provide and contribute to internal presentations, and appropriately tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Provide on and off-hour operational and technical support to escalated and/or critical operational incidents, where necessary

**Key qualifications include**:

- At least five years’ experience in an industrial environment with a high degree of automation (experience with automated conveying or material handling an asset), supplemented by a university degree in System Design, Industrial, Process, Controls, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Strong business acumen and analytical skills with proven ability to manage, interpret and derive insight from data presented, then develop and implement plans and programs
- Experience using business intelligence tools (Tableau, Qlik, Power BI, etc.) is preferred
- Intermediate or advanced MS Excel skills
- Ability to determine framework required to establish KPIs
- Familiarity with project management and change management processes
- Proven relationship building and negotiation skills in order to influence win-win outcomes
- Ability to work in a fast-paced setting with the flexibility to adapt in an ever-changing environment
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Proven ability to work with mínimal supervision

On call, irregular hours or shift/weekend work are at times required as Airport is in operation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
