We are currently seeking a **Materials Handler** to join our operations in a **permanent**, **full-time** position.
- Duties & Responsibilities
- Overall responsibility for the storage, transportation, and management of telecommunications materials (such as equipment, tooling, cabling and office supplies) in warehouse and yard;
- Consistently working back and forth between outside Yard and in Warehouse to ensure all materials are secured and maintained properly;
- Continuous improvement practices to optimize inventory control and logistics;
- Daily completion of Warehouse and Yard Safety Inspection and other related daily inspections and corresponding reports;
- Inspect the levels of supplies and consumable material to identify shortages;
- Ensure product stock is adequate for all divisions and fulfill direct orders for supply-only customers;
- Receive, ship, and record daily deliveries to reconcile inventory;
- Use software to monitor demand and document characteristics of inventory;
- Place orders to replenish stock avoiding insufficiencies or surplus;
- Analyze data to anticipate future needs;
- Report to upper management on stock levels, issues etc.;
- General maintenance and oversight of the warehouse and inventory;
- Calculate material requirements based on provided quotes;
- Preparing shipments, delivery of materials to work sites as required;
- Resolving materials shortages when required;
- Auditing inventory, restocking as required;
- Management and tracking of consignment stock of various vendors;
- Collaborating and organizing daily job packages as requested by divisional operations and project teams;
- Overall perform duties in a safe manner;
- Collaborate with warehouse staff to ensure a tidy, organized and effective warehouse operation;
- Process issuance and return of tools and equipment from the warehouse;
- Safely load big and small wooden reels;
- Operate Forklift equipment inside and outside on a daily basis in a safe manner;
- Occasionally travel to address material needs at field sites or temporary warehousing locations in other provinces;
- Other duties as may be assigned.
- Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs regularly;
- Standing and walking for long periods of time;
- Self-starter, motivated and with exceptional organizational and time-management skills;
- Ability to handle multiple requests or tasks at the same time and manage expectations of internal customers;
- Self-disciplined, requiring little to no supervision;
- Must be able to work independently, and as part of a team, working in a positive, collaborative manner;.
- Possess Excellent communication skills (both oral and written); with a proven ability to interact professionally with vendors, customers and internal staff;
- Professional demeanor and trustworthy of confidential information about projects, customers, and general employee information;
- Knowledge of general office computer systems and related software (Word, Excel, Outlook), with comfort in learning new software;
- Experience with JONAS Construction software will be considered an asset.
- Additional Requirements
- Must be comfortable transitioning from outside yard work to inside warehouse work and vice versa, on a daily basis;
- Must be able to work outside in extreme cold and warm temperatures;
- Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract;
- Experience Required
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in warehouse operations;
- Fork lift Operator certification is considered an asset.
