Materials Supervisor

**PURPOSE AND SCOPE**:
Manage the department’s people and equipment resources to complete the workload scheduled for the shift. Ensure that the people are working safely and maintain compliance with other company safety rules, and are conducting themselves in accordance with company policies.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**The following are the main job responsibilities and priorities for this position**:
- Maximize the number of parts received, picked, transferred, issued and delivered by ensuring that equipment, tools and information are ready and available during each shift
- Assign work in the priority sequence described by the Foreperson
- Ensuring timely and accurate issuing of parts to relevant work orders
- Provide feedback to the Foreperson to help develop and implement operational improvements
- Assign appropriate tasks to charge hands and/or lead hands to minimize distractions that will leave the area unsupervised
- Coach and instruct forklift drivers, expeditors and/or warehousemen to continually improve tasks and support departmental lean initiatives
- Coach and mentor charge hand/lead hand positions to develop future supervisors
- Assist Foreperson in developing plans to support production when necessary due to unforeseen circumstances
- Deliver workplace training or oversee training conducted by others within the department to ensure trainee is receiving good instruction, and that proper records of instruction are being kept
- Responsible for payroll reporting, vacation planning and performance reviews for direct reports
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Foreperson
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education and Experience**
- 3-5 years experience in Warehouse Supervision
- Practical knowledge of Warehouse systems and technology
- High school diploma
**Skills and Knowledge**
- Strong leadership ability and the capacity to work well with others
- Ability to work with all levels of Management
- Good communication skills, both oral and written
- Comfortable working under pressure to meet deadlines
- Strong knowledge of safety requirements including Warehouse safety, material handling, PPE, WHMIS, and forklift safety
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to prioritize and problem solve
- Proven computer skills including proficient use in the Microsoft Office tools
- Good planning, organization and administrative abilities
- Responsible, self motivated and hard working
- Available to work on Evening and Day shift
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
