**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Assists with recruitment and participates in interviews and supports the recruitment process as required.
- Develop and maintains a positive and effective working relationship with staff, management and unions
- Prepare employees listing for Attendance Support Program for the Management team. Statistics are calculated semi-annually in accordance the Attendance Management Policy
- Prepares and distributes employee listing for Perfect Attendance statistics. Prepares/distribute semi-annual and annual recognition listing and letters.
- Prepares and distributes performance appraisals list to ensure they are conducted in a timely manner by Managers
- Collaborates with departments and assists with the planning and organizing of departmental and general orientation process
- Accurately maintains/updates the HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems including, Staff Schedule Care staffing program, Surge Education program). As required, resource to team and train new staff on programs. Provides reports when requested.
- Process and monitors union days, staff leaves of absences and staff changes. Collaborates with the staffing office for leave requests to determine if proper coverage is available. Ensures all updates and changes are communicated out as necessary. Staff requisition and supporting documentation is sent to payroll department for processing.
- As directed by department provide HR follow-up for varied concerns. Maintain documentation of letters or communication sent.
- Liaises with current partnerships with community colleges and educational programs and facilitates affiliation agreements with schools and develops new partnerships when able. Coordinate and communicates in all areas of the student program including documentation, schedules, orientation and training for preceptors and students. Maintains data base of students tracks hours and coordinates recruitment initiatives.
- Preparation and distribution of quarterly seniority lists and ensure accuracy of scheduling system.
- As required monitor and track that job specific education requirements are met by employees (i.e. CNO, CPR, enrolment in job specific program)
- Assists with the Employee Recognition Program and annual Service Awards.
- May participate or assist in special projects, negotiations and labour relations as required.
- Assists with providing supporting data and documentation for discipline and grievance meetings.
- Maintains the filing system for the Human Resources files and archives files on an annual basis.
- Ensures complete confidentiality of files, employee organization correspondence and communications
- Performs all functions in accordance with the mission statement, organizational philosophy and administration policies and procedures of St. Joseph's Villa.

**Qualifications**:

- Completion of a recognized post-diploma program in Human Resources is required
- Experience in long-term care or health care is an asset
- Experience working with unions is an asset
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills is an asset
- Initiative, high energy level, and the ability to co-ordinate a number of different activities running simultaneously, yet independently of one another
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills is an asset
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is required
