**Responsibilities**:
PRIMARY PURPOSE

Analyzes maintenance and other inventory requirements to provide strategic inventory planning in response to fleet/rail changes, maintenance campaigns or other capital project initiatives. Liaises with various internal stakeholders to forecast demand towards inventory replenishment and recommends corrective action to ensure appropriate inventory readiness for the organization.
- KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Develops inventory control policies and procedures, working closely with supervisors and planners; implements inventory demand planning and control measures and periodically follows up on compliance of those measures.
- Leads analysis of inventory cost/costing and usage and presents the findings and the actions required to aligning BCRTC with industry standard polices and processes. To management and Senior leaders.
- Engages with the maintenance department leaders to solve complex bill of materials requirements and forecasted demand. Translating requests into long range (multiyear) forecast and buying strategies.
- Develops long term inventory supply requirements to establish correct part availability for both day to day maintenance and maintenance campaigns and capital projects
- Identifies inventory deficit or surpluses and authorizes changes towards corrective action for procurement of appropriate inventory on a periodic or as assigned basis. Researches and implements best practices around inventory planning and demand.
- Collaborates with purchasing and stores supervisors and other stakeholders to make recommendations to improve certain inventory and parts control processes in anticipation of EAM transition.
- Analyzes and oversees movement of repairable items and performs cost/benefit analyses of in house versus out house repairs, providing effective recommendations to suit business needs and requirements.
- Liaises with vendors to establish lead times and possible stocking arrangements, freight, customs and other terms for the acquisition of inventory related goods/services, ensuring appropriate and up-to-date documentation at all times.
- Supervises direct reports, including recruitment, selection, coaching, developing, managing performance, and all other aspects of people management.

**Qualifications**:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The competencies for this position would be acquired through completion of a post-secondary degree in Inventory Management, Supply Chain Management or related field and documented successful completion of applicable and appropriate supervisory skills training from an accredited institution.

Requires 5 years of maintenance asset management experience.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Advanced working knowledge of supply chain concepts such as inventory deployment, planning, optimization and logistics.

Solid knowledge of inventory control theories, practices and procedures

Solid knowledge of inventory best practices in an Enterprise Asset Management System (EAM) preferably within the transportation industry.

Solid oral and written communications skills, including report-writing skills

Solid working knowledge of Excel, Access and other MS Office programs

Solid problem-solving and analytical skills

Solid supervisory skills
