**POSITION OVERVIEW**

As a **Cook Assistant**, you will work closely with the campus Cook and Centre Director to support the preparation, serving, and cleanup of nutritious meals and snacks. This role is key to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming kitchen environment and ensuring that food is prepared in alignment with allergy accommodations, nutrition standards, and health regulations. **This is a 1 year contract position.**

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Assist in preparing and serving meals and snacks that meet daily schedules and dietary guidelines
- Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen, including dishwashing and surface sanitization
- Follow health regulations and food safety procedures at all times
- Support allergy accommodations through food separation and proper hygiene practices
- Assist with kitchen inventory, food prep, and receiving deliveries as needed
- Take direction from the Cook and contribute to a smooth kitchen workflow
- Other duties as assigned to support kitchen efficiency and child well-being

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education & Experience**
- High School Diploma (OSSD or GED) required
- Prior experience in food preparation, kitchen work, or meal service is considered an asset

**Certifications & Knowledge**
- Valid Food Handler’s Certification required
- Familiarity with Canada’s Food Guide and nutrition best practices preferred

**MINISTRY REQUIREMENTS**:

- 2 Step TB
- Updated Immunizations (Tetanus, MMR)
- Vulnerable Sector Check
- Standard First Aid & CPR Level C
