Summary:
Reporting to the Lead, Indigenous Wellness and Partnerships, and working in a collaborative team environment, the Coordinator, Indigenous Wellness and Engagement provides leadership within Foundry to enhance, promote, and engage Indigenous community, youth and family participation in the planning and development of Foundry services and other relevant planning and policy development processes across the Foundry network including its central office, virtual services and centres. Facilitates partnerships and relationship-building with Indigenous communities and individuals to support the development and implementation of the Cultural Safety and Humility Framework. The Coordinator is responsible for designing, implementing, evaluating and reporting out on community engagement activities with Indigenous peoples and communities across the Foundry network.

The Coordinator works with Foundry central office leadership, Foundry Network leadership, program and clinical leaders, the Engagement Team, and others in developing meaningful approaches required and developing Indigenous wellness and community engagement strategies. Other key interactions include youth and families, BC government, Metis Nation BC, First Nations Health Authority, Indigenous organizations, First Nations, band councils and administration, and community organizations, and members of the public.

Qualifications / Skills and Education:
**Education**
- Bachelor’s degree in related field (Master’s Degree preferred), supplemented by three years of recent related experience in Indigenous community engagement and organizational development, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience in the Indigenous community engagement/development sector. Ability to speak an Indigenous language would be an asset.

**Skills and Abilities**
- Demonstrated creativity and initiative in designing, leading and evaluating community engagement projects and developing new strategic partnerships both internal and external to the organization. Knowledge and experience in methodologies, planning, delivery, evaluation and reporting out on community engagement, public participation, and stakeholder consultation processes
- Knowledge of complex organizational and system dynamics in terms of involving multiple stakeholders.
- Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous health and wellness issues; socioeconomic determinants of health and wellness; participatory community based engagement from a traditional context; traditional protocols; Indigenous community organizations and services; and, research literature and trends on Indigenous health, wellness, cultural safety, and reconciliation.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), and the PHC’s signatory to the Declaration of Cultural Safety and Humility.
- High level communication, negotiation and facilitation skills, including understanding of social media in citizen engagement. Strong writing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively, collaboratively, and cooperatively with groups, individuals and organizations. Builds credibility, understanding and trust in the external community to assist Foundry to meet its strategic directions.
- Knowledge of participatory community-based research, planning and analysis skills, and ability to synthesize information from a vast range of sources into practical plans and useful recommendations.
- Demonstrated ability to build cooperative and consultative partnerships with senior staff and leaders in external organizations. Knowledge of Foundry strategic priorities and key unresolved issues in order to identify partnership and engagement opportunities.
- Demonstrated ability to independently determine appropriate levels of engagement with internal and external stakeholders while ensuring senior staff are informed.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Demonstrated computer literacy and word-processing skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Develops a comprehensive Indigenous community engagement plan that integrates with the Foundry network planning and organizational priorities, including themes related to: strategies to support relationship building, integration of engagement protocols, processes and structures for enhanced Indigenous decision making in the design and delivery of Foundry services and supports.
