**Resident Engagement Coordinator**
**3-month Term Position with potential for extension**
**PROGRAM**:Social Development (Reporting to the Director of Resident Support Services)
**JOB GOAL**:
The Resident Engagement Coordinator is responsible for the promotion and oversight of all resident engagement initiatives and programming, as well as providing outreach services for both current and incoming residents, ensuring that all feel welcome and supported from the moment that they apply. This role is responsible for helping to promote open lines of respectful communication between tenants and housing providers and being a conduit for our tenant’s needs.
The Resident Engagement Coordinator initiates and manages a variety of activities, projects, and tenant programming; builds and maintains community links and partnerships; leads and supports the resident community and supports the implementation of fund development opportunities.
**PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES**:
In the performance of these responsibilities, the Resident Engagement Coordinator is accountable for:
- Assist both the Director and Manager of Resident Support Services in coordinating the formation, implementation and overall activities related to a Tenant Advisory Committee.
- Organize, advertise, and see to the facilitation of tenant programming with the support of Resident Support staff.
- Build relationships with community members and service providers, in order to create community links which support and contribute to initiatives, and further
- Work with the Manager of Resident Support Services to effectively respond to inquiries from tenants, partnering agencies and the community at large; act as a resource of information to ensure that BCIHS’s mission, vision and values are communicated effectively and positively.
- Together with the Director and Manager of Resident Support Services, develop sustainable programming and support services plans for all BCIHS residents; identify and develop community partnerships and resources to deliver and implement ongoing programming that reflects the needs of the residents.
- Monitor, evaluate, document outcomes, and ensure program objectives and outcomes meet funder expectations.
- Write promotional and educational materials, program reports, reports, collect statistics and keep other program related documentation in place.
- Work with the Manager of Resident Support Services to aid Indigenous Housing Managers in addressing complex tenant management cases in buildings without on-site support staff.
- Attend community meetings, BCIHS team meetings and core staff meetings to provide project updates.
- Support tenants throughout the Supportive Housing Spectrum.,
- Other related duties as directed by the Director of Resident Support Services.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education & Training**
- Relevant post-secondary education and at least 2 years experience related to community development and outreach, social work, urban planning/development.
- Crisis Intervention, Naloxone and Conflict Resolution Training an asset
**Key Skills and Abilities**
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to use computers to convey information effectively.
- Ability to prepare and write promotional and educational materials, reports, and letters.
- Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work collaboratively with culturally diverse community residents, volunteers, co-workers and community service partners, funders, and stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, leadership and communication skills
- Proven ability to facilitate groups, organize and manage projects and develop partnerships.
- Knowledge relevant to issues facing the Indigenous population.
- Sound judgment and initiative to resolve problems.
- Ability to work with limited supervision.
- Ability to organize the workload and maintain flexibility in an ever-changing environment.
- Ability to work under pressure and, at times, in a difficult and challenging public environment.
- Familiarity with the issues facing Indigenous and marginalized people.
- Criminal records check
- Valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation.
