**Job Summary**:
Reporting to the Waste Diversion Contract Supervisor, the Coordinator is responsible for administering recycling and organics collection services and other waste diversion programs, at Multi-Residential (MR), Mixed-Use (MU) and Industrial, Commercial and Institutional (IC&I) properties, including Regional and Municipal buildings. The Coordinator assists in the supervision and monitoring of various waste diversion operating contracts, ensuring compliance with service agreement provisions, policies and procedures. The Coordinator is also responsible for administering the Special Events Recycling and Organics (SERO) program, to provide waste diversion services for community events.
**Education**:
- Post secondary diploma or degree in Environmental Management or an equivalent field of study.
- An equivalent combination of education, experience and qualifications may be considered.
**Knowledge**:
- 3 years of experience in a waste management capacity, with experience in planning, implementing, administering and/or coordinating solid waste collection and diversion programs.
- Experience in community outreach and dealing with the public.
- Knowledge of contract administration principles applied to vendor performance management, risk management and program performance metrics reporting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act, WHMIS, Regulation 347 of the Environmental Compliance Approvals (EPA) and the Waste Free Ontario Act.
- Knowledge of Region waste management programs and the Region’s waste management system by-law.
**Responsibilities**:
Coordinates and _assists in the supervision and monitoring of waste diversion contracts, including _the Region’s_ Multi-Residential (MR), Mixed-Use (MU), and Industrial, Commercial and Institutional (IC&I) properties recycling and organic programs, Special Events Recycling and Organics collection, the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) program, the Electrical & Electronic Equipment (EEE) program, batteries, dry wall, mattress, têxtiles, and reusable goods drop off program._ _(40% of time)_
- Ensures Contractor’s frontline staff are performing work in accordance with Niagara Region’s program policies through daily monitoring and acts as a backup to the Waste Diversion Contract Supervisor.
- Coordinates the on-site work of service providers for facility operations and materials transport, provision of required inventory of all equipment, materials & supplies and data collection..
- Conducts occasional site visits to inspect waste management areas, service locations and contractor facilities as required.
- Facilitates daily coordination of on-site activities with select service providers and end markets, ensuring that all aspects of contracts related to diversion programs are met, according to service agreement specifications and highest standards.
- Updates and maintains database information, analyzing data, producing reports and providing recommendations for further diversion opportunities.
