Human Resource Consultant

Assist Principals/Managers, Senior Administration, and employees in problem-solving employee conflicts and performance difficulties; provide counsel regarding course of action in discipline matters and assist in drafting correspondence to employees on behalf of the Board in matters requiring disciplinary action. Assist with development and implementation of Human Resource Services department and Board Policies and Procedures on topics including but not limited to disability management, attendance support, progressive discipline, and hiring so as to meet legislative and collective agreement compliance requirements. Participate, as required, in a variety of Human Resource related committees and special projects, including acting as a Human Resource representative and, at times, as a project lead on system and ad-hoc committees and special projects. Responsible for the coordination of data collection and completion of various reports as needed.
This includes the analysis and validation of data. Assist in developing and facilitation of in-service training on Human Resource related programs and activities, including the preparation, content development, and presentation of materials. Monitor employee attendance to confirm eligibility for sick leave and/or early and safe return to work opportunities. In conjunction with the WSIB/Disability Management Officer, create and monitor appropriate return to work and/or stay at work plans to meet the individual needs of employees and the Board.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Education CHRP/CHRL designation preferred or working towards this designation. Post Graduate Certificate or Related University Degree or College Diploma in Human Resources/Industrial or Labour Relations. Experience 5-7 years experience in progressively responsible human resources positions preferably within an education environment. Other Qualifications Critical thinking, problem solving, communication and analytical skills.
Exceptional organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills. Superb relationship builder and leader, who develops lasting positive and value-adding relationships with all who interact with HR while maintaining confidentiality. Flexible, well-organized, and comfortable in working well under pressure and tight deadlines, to produce high quality work in a timely manner. Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems and the ability to write reports and present information effectively.
