Global Payroll Specialist
Position Summary
The Global Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for employees across multiple countries. This role requires a strong knowledge of international payroll practices, compliance regulations, and systems. The specialist will work closely with local payroll vendors, internal HR and Finance teams, and ensure adherence to global standards and local laws.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Process payroll for multiple international locations in accordance with local laws and company policies.
- Review, audit, and validate payroll data including compensation, bonuses, benefits, and taxes.
- Collaborate with third-party payroll providers, ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
- Serve as the main point of contact for payroll-related inquiries for assigned countries.
- Ensure compliance with local tax laws, statutory filings, labor regulations, and social security requirements.
- Reconcile payroll reports, general ledger entries, and prepare audit documentation as needed.
- Assist in implementing global payroll processes and systems improvements.
- Support global mobility and expatriate payroll processing if applicable.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation for audits and internal controls.
- Partner with HR, Finance, and Legal to align payroll operations with broader business initiatives.
- Stay current with changes in local payroll legislation and communicate relevant updates to stakeholders.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of experience in international payroll, ideally in a multi-country environment.
Payroll certification (FPC, CPP, or international equivalents) is an asset.
Familiarity with global payroll systems such as ADP, Workday, SAP, or similar.
Strong understanding of international payroll compliance and regulatory requirements.
Experience managing relationships with external payroll vendors.
High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
Ability to work independently and handle confidential information with integrity.
Excellent communication skills in English (additional languages a plus).
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data management tools.
Experience in transitioning to a unified global payroll platform.
Knowledge of mobility/expat payroll and global benefits coordination.
**Skills**:Self-starter with a bias towards action and a proven track record of successful execution.
Ability to assess the importance of tasks and decisions and set priorities, focusing time/energy on the most important issues/opportunities.
Knowledge of video conferencing tools (including Zoom, MS Teams).
Ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders.
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills required with demonstrated ability to communicate and present at an executive level.
Solution oriented, customer service focus, and positive “can do” team attitude.
