Lumber Yard Material Handler/joist Cutter

**THE HUSTLE ENVIRONMENT**
- Monday to Friday, 40 hours/week
- Occasional overtime may be required
- Working outside in all weather conditions along with exposure to dust, dirt and other outside elements
- Moderate exposure to personal risk; safety boots are required
- Lots of standing/walking
- Bending, twisting, squatting and reaching
- Moderate work volume
- Operating forklift to move material in/out of manufacturing plant and around the lumber yard

**HOW MUCH TIME WE WANT TO SPEND WITH YOU**
Full time, permanent

**THESE ARE YOUR STRENGTHS**:

- Can confidently use a rough terrain forklift
- Stacking and banding lumber
- Uses a chainsaw to cut joists
- Physically fit and able to lift 50+ lbs safely
- Confidently assist customers in loading product safely and efficiently including using a rough terrain fork lift.
- Ensure load matches sales order with detail and accuracy
- Check invoices and verify correct product is provided
- Assist with daily upkeep including restacking lifts, culling lumber/organizing
- Help to maintain a clean and safe work space for other team members and customers
- Confidently and precisely cut material specific to job orders
- Build lumber packages
- Yard maintenance/cleanliness
- Sweeping/picking up yard waste

**SUCCESS FACTORS**:

- Priority will be given to experienced lumber yard material handlers _**with**_ rough terrain forklift and joist cutting experience
- High school diploma or, equivalent
- Competent knowledge of OH&S safe work procedures
- Able to confidently read a tape measure
- Construction knowledge, home/commercial construction knowledge is a valuable asset in this role
- Positive attitude, team player, willingness to learn
- Professional, courteous and punctual with a focus on customer service
- Detail orientated, self motivated and resourceful
- Ability to prioritize and manage time constraints
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to handle occasional pressure of shifting priorities and challenges in a dynamic business environment
- Good physical fitness and endurance
