**Position advertised**:

- Retail Store Associate

**Duties and responsibilities**:

- Reports to the retail manager
- Actively participates in a team environment
- Follows daily routines and procedures
- Greets and interacts with customers by providing a friendly environment
- Consults customers to understand their needs and preferences related to merchandise
- Demonstrates and explains merchandise, selecting and suggesting options available for the customers needs
- Answers customer's questions about merchandise
- Assists customers with purchase decisions
- Places special orders for customers using company ERP software in compliance with company procedures and collects payments
- Processes and fulfils orders that are held for customer pick ups
- Retrieves merchandise from sales floor, warehouse, or other inventory locations
- Maintains inventory replenishment and merchandises displays
- Answers incoming phone calls
- Stays up to date on the most current flyer sales and promotions
- Processes purchases at the cash register including some returns and exchanges
- Assists opening and closing the store and the cash register
- Maintains the store's cleanliness and appearance
- Attends all product training sessions
- Adheres to all company policies
- Performs other duties and assignments as requested by management

**Required skills/abilities**:

- Active listening, strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent sales and customer service skills
- Works well autonomously and in a team including time management
- Capacity to learn and share product knowledge of the merchandise sold
- Ability to anticipate customer's needs and recommend merchandise
- Ability to use a computer, computer software and cash register

**Education and Experience**:

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Secondary school preferred
- Previous retail or customer service experience preferred
- Knowledge of stationary products preferred
- Knowledge of PCs and laptops, monitors and printers sales an asset
- Knowledge of furniture sales an asset
- On-the-job training provided

**Physical requirements**:

- Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the retail space
- Move, lift and handle boxes of merchandise at times

**Salary**: From $17.00 per hour

- No weekends
