BCIT’s **School of Construction and the Environment **is seeking a **regular, part-time (0.72 **FTE**) Faculty.** The position will entail instructing courses at the undergraduate level, developing and modifying course material (with a strong emphasis on designing and instructing field-based and applied learning outcomes), supervising capstone projects for BSc students, and assisting with program revision and changes. This position may also require supporting several all-day or multi-day field trips, assisting in organizing field trips, and promoting the BSc program.
- BCIT’s **BSc program** in **Ecological Restoration **is among North America’s very few programs that specialize in this emerging discipline. This program provides graduates with a world-class foundation in the fundamental science, applied knowledge, and technical skills needed to restore a broad range of degraded ecosystems. The program has been designed to advance the science and practice of ecological restoration.
- The BSc is a 2-year program (years 3 and 4) and is one of just two Canadian BSc programs in ecological restoration. Students work with our many professional partners on a wide range of applied restoration projects, thereby gaining experience in addressing many current environmental challenges. Graduates have an excellent track record of securing positions with consulting companies, nonprofit organizations, as well as all levels of government including First Nations.**Duties & Responsibilities**Qualifications**

**MINIMUM**

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Minimum of MSc in geology/geoscience, soil science, applied/wetland/restoration ecology, climate change/sustainability, environmental management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of three years of experience in restoration, ecology, hydrology, fluvial geomorphology, terrain mapping/assessment, soil sciences, or a related discipline.
- Knowledge and experience designing research and monitoring programs related to aquatic/terrestrial restoration.
- Experience designing and implementing a range of field/site assessments, including for instance assessments of hydrology, stream channels, water quality, soils, terrain, or biota
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Applicants invited for an interview will be required to submit an example of their writing and deliver a presentation for the selection committee.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collegial environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability, which are needed to effectively manage the dynamic conditions and logistics associated with our applied programs.

**PREFERRED**

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Strong preference for a demonstrated ability to teach effectively at the post-secondary level in both classroom and field settings.
- Experience designing and implementing management treatments focused on wetland/estuarine restoration (hydrological processes), terrestrial restoration (bank stability, soil amendments) and climate change (carbon sequestering).
- Experience teaching and/or working with First Nations.
- Knowledge of and experience with the principles of ecological restoration/environmental management.

**Salary Range**
- Salary Range: $65,045 - $113,545 per annum.**Additional Salary Information**
