**Position**: Department Manager - Produce
**Position Type**: Full-time Non-Union
**Responsibilities**:
- Schedule department appropriately to meet business needs
- Train staff to understand the policies, procedures and to communicate politely & effectively with the customer
- Delegate and prioritize workload for staff
- Effectively merchandise advertising and promotional programs
- Handle customer complaints in a proper and efficient manner
- Comply with all Health and Safety and Food Safety policies within the store and ensure that all policies are followed by staff
- Maintain a clean and safe department for customers and employees
- Receiving, storing and handling of the product to ensure efficient, effective results
- Ensure proper product rotation as required
- Ensure proper signage for produce displays to enhance sales/profits
- Ensure pricing integrity
- Communicate regularly with store management and other department managers to ensure store-wide goals are being met
- Includes key carrying and alarm responsibilities
- Any other duties that may be required to ensure courteous friendly service, competitively priced products, and a store that meets and maintains the hygiene standards specified
**What you bring**:
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework preferred
- Previous retail managerial experience preferably in the grocery industry
- Ability to manage and motivate people
- Able to work as part of a larger team to ensure store standards are met or exceeded
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends
- Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of retail operations, including merchandising, inventory management, and customer service
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.
