**Job description**:
**Our hours are 10am to midnight. Shifts are 8-12hr. Alternating weekends required (2-3 weekends per month). Evening shifts are required - must be available to work until midnight as well as holidays.**
Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring the comfort and safety of animals.
- Assist technicians with procedures.
- Prepare animals for surgery, including administering anesthesia and monitoring vital signs.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including sterilizing instruments and cleaning examination rooms.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with pet owners about their pets’ health and care.
- Keep patient records, ensuring all information is accurate and up-to-date.
- Support the team with administrative tasks as needed, including answering phones, scheduling appointments, and handling billing inquiries.
Experience
- Minimum 1 year previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant or in a similar role is required
- Knowledge of basic animal behaviour and handling technique.
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
- Ability to lift and restrain animals up to 50 lbs. We are **not** a hands-free clinic.
- Strong communication skills are essential.
- A genuine love for animals and a commitment to providing excellent care are critical for success in this position.
