**STRUCTURE**:
The Junior Loans Officer will report directly to the Sr. Account Manager who will be responsible for delegation of tasks and training and provide guidance and supervision that will support the development of the Junior Loans Officer. The Junior Loans Officer may periodically report to the General Manager or other Senior Staff for other specific tasks/assignments from time to time.

**NATURE AND SCOPE**:
1. Develop and maintain a good working knowledge of the commercial credit policy to better offer our services. Respond to general credit inquiries from customers/prospects.
2. As required, preparation, registration, and custody of all collateral security in accordance with applicable regulations, legislation and procedures.
3 Perform routine credit analysis of financial statements, monitoring reports, (i.e., accounts receivable/payable lists). Interview loan applicants, obtain necessary credit checks, investigate as required and follow-up on customer inquiries.
4. Perform routine security valuation as part of preparing Lending Transaction Summaries and preparation of Quarterly Loans Portfolio & Delinquency Analysis.
5. Assist customers as required to enhance their business potential and our security position by accessing the Metis Entrepreneur Assistance Program (MEAP) when applicable. Supervision and follow-up of the monitoring system.
7. Develop a good working knowledge of the Commercial Lending Process such that the Loans Officer can work independently with limited supervision.
8. Identify and promote viable business opportunities in the Metis and Non-Status Indian communities of Alberta in conjunction with the Senior Loans Officer.
9. Work well with Metis and Non-Status community. Provide prompt information guidance and service. Have an acceptable knowledge and involvement with and in the community.
10. Provide back-up to the Loans Assistant in the preparation of loan disbursements.

**SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES**:
2. Perform applicant interviews by phone or in person as required.
3. Discuss or answer client inquiries on the loan process and eligibility requirements.
4. Analyze business plans and make assessment relative thereof.
5. Review or draft projected or existing financial statements or cash flow statements.
6. Request credit bureaus/debtor searches, etc. and review same.
8. Coordinating, requesting, and reviewing loan legal document.
9. Coordinating the execution of the legal documents with the support of Senior staff.
10. Assist with maintaining and/or completing annual client file reviews.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Thorough accounting/financial knowledge - supplemented with related courses in accounting at an intermediate level.
- Must be familiar with the forms of business organizations and any business law is an asset.
- Be accurate with work, detail oriented and provide excellent customer service.
- A minimum of one year related financial and/or commercial credit experience is preferred.
- Related experience/education will be considered.
