**The Role**
Under the supervision of Dr. Bohdan Nosyk, the Epidemiologist will be embedded in the Health Economic Research Unit (HERU) and responsible for supporting the development of population health-focused research studies as well as the analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of information from related research activities.
The Epidemiologist works closely with CHÉOS staff including physicians, epidemiologists, research nurses, research coordinators and assistants, data managers, biostatisticians, graduate students, and fellows.
- Collaborates in the planning, design, and implementation of research studies that inform public health practice.
- Participates in the investigation of emerging public health issues and the evaluation of related public health programs and services.
- Supports and promotes evidence-informed decision-making through interpreting population health data in support of public health practice and quality improvement.
- Supports, develops, and evaluates strategies that encourage community participation and engagement in research and related activities.
- Contributes to the dissemination and knowledge translation of findings from research studies to internal and external stakeholders.
- Develops research funding proposals, technical reports, publications, and presentations.
- Maintains current knowledge of new developments in public health interventions and health services research in HIV/AIDS and substance use disorders.
- Supports the day-to-day operations of the research team’s public health research studies.
**Skill and Qualifications**
- Master’s degree in Public Health/Health Science (MSc, MPH) or related discipline.
- Minimum two years of recent related experience in a public health research setting and academia.
- Strong knowledge of, and experience working with, large administrative health datasets.
- Experience with coding and statistical analysis in standard statistical software (e.g., SAS, STATA, R, SPSS).
- Strong knowledge and/or research experience in HIV/AIDS, substance use, public health, and health services with supporting research publications.
- Ability to identify and analyze trends and changes in population health outcomes, risk factors, and other relevant epidemiological measures.
- Ability to collect and accurately interpret public health data from a variety of data sources, and effectively communicate research findings to diverse stakeholders including care providers, policymakers, and community members with lived/living experience.
**Covid-19 Vaccine Mandate**
This position is located within a healthcare facility. Therefore, this position requires successful verification of full vaccination against Covid-19 provided prior to the start date, as required by the provincial health mandate.
