**Position Summary**:
Provides epidemiological analysis and advice to a variety of fields including population health, health and wellness indicators, health surveys, development of surveillance systems, research approaches, data analysis, and preparation of data for internal and external audiences. This position will be largely focused on childhood immunization, child and maternal health, and communicable diseases.
**Responsibilities**:
- Plans, designs, and conducts recurring and non-recurring epidemiological and statistical analyses and surveys, and critically evaluates and supports epidemiological research activities.
- Defines and recommends the nature, scope, and objectives for projects related to health surveillance, monitoring, evaluation, data analysis, surveys, and research
- Analyzes and shares the findings through discussions, presentations, and reports to internal or external stakeholders in order to contribute to the body of knowledge.
- Participates in multi-disciplinary project teams comprised of federal, provincial, and First Nations government, academic institutions, and health professionals (Physicians, Health Planners, Health Workers, etc.) regarding epidemiology and health surveillance. Recommends methodological approaches, and areas for analysis and research
- Contributes to national, provincial, and regional health databases/health surveillance systems as appropriate, and provides advice at provincial, regional, organizational, and community levels on the collection, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of health-related data for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of public health practice for First Nations in BC.

**Qualifications**:
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Epidemiology or Statistics or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of related experience
**Knowledge, Skills & Attributes**:
- Basic knowledge of First Nations traditions and etiquette.
- Knowledge of First Nations perspectives on health, wellness, and health information governance.
- Knowledge of concepts, theories, techniques, and principles of epidemiology.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Knowledge of computer programming techniques is necessary to participate in the development of databases and to write programs to perform statistical analyses
- Ability to do analysis with computer software such as Microsoft Office, SPSS, STATA, or SAS/R.
- Ability to plan, design, and construct epidemiological and statistical analyses and surveys.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
