**SITE DESCRIPTON**:
The Health Science Center is the largest healthcare facility in Newfoundland and Labrador and consists of a number of different divisions of healthcare all blended in together to provide a central location for healthcare in the Metro St. Johns area.

The multi building property which shares resources with the University Houses the General Hospital, the Regional Cancer Center, the Janeway children’s Hospital and the Janeway Hostel.

Featuring a large Emergency department, a Children’s Emergency department and trauma services the center attracts patients from across the region.

Being a teaching hospital working closely with the Memorial University leads the Health Science Center to pioneer many developments in healthcare and attracts students and practitioners from far and wide.

**TYPICAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Based on specific site posting, log and report all incidents reported by hospital staff, physicians, patients or visitors
- Patrol interior and exterior of facility preventing unauthorized entry; in a composed manner direct individuals initiating disruption to leave the premises
- While on patrol, monitor risks such as unlocked doors, blocked entrances and exits, mechanical issues, hazardous material and additional breaches of security
- 2 way radio use and professionalism
- Respond to alarms and emergency calls for assistance.
- Monitoring situations, cameras, property and events
- Communicate in a truthful and receptive manner under all circumstances as well as provide information regarding the facility as requested by personnel
- Sustain effective relationships with key stakeholders and visitors through courteous and respectful relations perceived from their viewpoint
- Monitor and screen visitors and clients in a professional manner in order to grant access to the facility

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Grade 12 diploma plus some Post-Secondary education in a Law Enforcement/Security program would be an asset
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- Clear letter of conduct
- Frist Aid would be considered an asset

$17.20/hour

**All new hires are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID19 or have an approved exemption.**
