Groundskeeper / Landscaper

**Overview**
Our strata complex, located in beautiful South Surrey, has an exciting, new, full-time opportunity for an **experienced groundskeeper** to maintain and improve our grounds. We are seeking an experienced landscape professional to work with the strata council and strata agent in maintaining lawns, gardens, irrigation, hardscape construction, and other grounds responsibilities. All equipment will be provided. This is a **full-time, year-round position** with schedule flexibility.

**Responsibilities**

The groundskeeper will be responsible to ensure the outdoor areas of the property are in an excellent condition and kept tidy.

The groundskeeper will have regular meetings with the Landscape Team, completing work reports, working through a comprehensive checklist of gardening tasks weekly, making recommendations and planning improvements for our outdoor areas. You will be given a significant degree of independence and trust in determining your daily schedule.
- Maintain gardens, plant installation and maintenance, plant health management.
- Shrub trimming, pruning, surface blowing, leaf clean-up.
- Manage turf areas, mowing, trimming, fertilizing, aeration, treatments.
- Maintain and repair irrigation systems.
- Maintain tree health, working with the contract arborist.
- Maintain and repair fences, gates, and outdoor drains.
- Install and repair hardscape features (concrete pavers, pathways, patios).
- Maintain cleanliness of grounds.
- Other seasonal projects as required, including working with the building caretaker (pressure washing, moss removal and treatments, winter salt/traction mix, light painting, etc.).
- Utilize hand tools and power tools effectively for various landscaping tasks.
- Minimum of 2 years direct experience as a groundskeeper or landscaper
- Certificate/diploma in horticulture studies (ie. Kwantlen Horticulture Technology or similar) OR Level 2 Red Seal Landscape Horticulturist OR equivalent demonstrable experience
- Familiarity with using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
- Knowledge of irrigation systems
- Valid driver's license AND reliable vehicle
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Ability to perform heavy manual labour, including to safely lift 20 kilograms
- Ability to safely work on ladders, roofs, and at heights
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- WHMIS certification AND experience with horticultural chemicals

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 - 40 per week
