**ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY**
Reporting to the K-12 Education Manager or their delegate, the primary objective of the role is to enroll children and youth (13-18) into the Métis Family Connections - Secondary Years Program, and to provide information and referral support to ensure Métis children and youth and their families are connected to culture, virtual events and education supports. Collaborating with the Métis Family Connections, Ministry of Youth, and STEPS teams, they will connect families to services and supports related to the secondary years by increasing the availability and accessibility of quality educational resources and services.
**KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Enroll children and youth (13-18) into the Métis Family Connections - Secondary Years Program
- Connect families to services related to the secondary years (13-18).
- Maintain documentation and lists in relation to children and youth (13-18) accessing our services.
- Refer families to relevant programs offered by community partners, school districts, and other MNBC Ministries.
- Distribute relevant secondary years information to families.
- Document barriers for Métis families in accessing secondary years (13-18) programming and services.
- Support the planning and coordinating of meetings and events, as required.
- Attend community partner meetings and community events, as required.
- Carry out various administrative tasks, as assigned.
- Reporting of activities to the K-12 Education Manager, as required.
- Create relationships with school districts, and secondary years programs and services.
**THE IDEAL CANDIDATE**
- Degree or diploma in Education, Community Support Work, Social Work, Child and Youth Care or a related field.
- Knowledge of secondary years programs and services, as well as the K-12 Education system.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children, youth and families. Preferably in a K-12 setting.
- Combination of relevant experience, education, and training will be considered.
- Knowledge and/or awareness of the historical and contemporary culture and contributions made by Métis people in B.C.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to lead, problem-solve, and utilize team-building skills.
- Proven ability to utilize strong interpersonal skills to deal with others effectively.
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work with mínimal supervision.
- Proven ability to utilize, adapt and embrace new technologies, including Word, Excel and other database/software required by the role.
**OTHER COMMENTS**
- Other duties may be assigned as needed to help ensure the efficient operation of MNBC.
- There will be a need to attend meetings and events which may require work and travel outside of normal business hours.
- Ability to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
