Automation Team Lead

SSI Schaefer Systems, a global leader of automated material handling systems and solutions, is currently offering an opportunity for a Team Leader to be part of our Automated Systems Division.
Position Overview
The Team Leader position encompasses the Automation & IT Technician tasks and responsibilities in addition to the role-specific tasks. The Team Leader interfaces with customer on a day-to-day basis, understands and coordinates the interactions between customer demands, asset, availability and delivery of corrective and proactive maintenance, looking at ways in which to improve asset uptime while reducing breakdown frequency and preventing recurring failures. The Position is part of a customer service team in-residence to ensure systems are running at peak efficiency with maximum uptime.
Essential Functions
- Provide training, direction and guidance to the team members.
- Manage day-to-day issues and customer’s request.
- Maintain good relationships with the customer onsite.
- Prepare the schedule for the team as per the customer’s requirement.
- Prepare and order spare parts on the monthly bases as per the consumption and requirements.
- Check and manage the inventory of the spare parts.
- Ensure all the used spare parts are logged in the CMMS properly.
- Prepare Maintenance schedule on the weekly/monthly basis with the CMMS.
- Ensure all the PM’s are carried out correctly in a timely manner
- Organize preventive maintenance and repair of diverse production equipment to minimize production downtime.
- Prepare monthly report on the performance of the team members.
- Communicate all the issues and concerns of the team members to the management.
- Check CMMS reports on a weekly basis.
- Coordinate on-site installation/maintenance of electrical and mechanical automated system machines.
- Troubleshoot, repair, calibrate and align electrical and mechanical automated system machines.
- Capable of reading and editing electrical, mechanical and layout drawings.
- Demonstrate experience in a maintenance field with good working experience in Automation, IT and in mechanical repairs.
- Support new machine builds, installations and modifications.
- Develop and maintain standards and tools for hardware projects.
- Monitor automated system machine performance KPI.
- Demonstrate organizational, interpersonal and problem solving skills.
- Ability to work on extended weekly shifts and 1 day per weekend.
- Actively communicates with team members, project manager and software developers about the work and project status.
- Effectively communicates with customers in high-impact scenarios.
- May occasionally performs extended hours, weekend and holiday work in support of customer service and change requests.
- May travel to other sites for paid training, installations, and vacation relief.
- Works independently with little or no supervision.
- Ensures all team members follow all safety policies and procedures and conduct tasks in a safety conscientious manner
- Reports all issues to the Service Manager in a timely manner
Qualification Requirements
- A degree/diploma in Automation, IT, Mechanical technology or Similar.
- Valid Driver’s License
- 3-5 years of equipment maintenance experience preferably with automation.
- Working knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles, motors, drivers, belts and bearings.
- Basic knowledge of PLC/Control Systems and SCADA
