Re: Casual Employment Requirements for Landscaping Foreman

If you have plans to travel this summer or have complicated availability, then this is not the position for you. We need a reliable Foreman who can be a leader full-time this summer
- There is a hierarchy in the chain of command at Pinnacle Landscaping. At the top is Matt, the owner of the business. When not on-site, there will be a foreman who has the designated position of leading the team on-site into getting the job done efficiently and to our high standards. This is still a labor position and you are still expected to work amongst the team, but you are the designated leader on-site and there are additional responsibilities in this leadership role, which will also be compensated with a larger wage than general labor.
- Employees at Pinnacle Landscaping are expected to be at the site, punctually. We expect you to be consistent with this, model, as well as enforce this to the rest of the team. If there is an ongoing issue with the punctuality of a team member, it is your duty to address this with them first and bring it up the chain of command if it is an issue that cannot be solved by you first.

It is expected at Pinnacle Landscaping that everybody is arriving to work on time. There will be a 15-minute grace period after start time, and anyone who does not arrive by 15 minutes after the hour at the latest must have their time of arrival documented and reported to Matt, as time off the clock is not paid. At this time, also make an attempt to reach out to the employee to ensure they know that they are supposed to be at work. If someone is consistently using this 15 minutes, this also needs to be addressed.

If someone calls in sick to you, document the information that you can that you deem relevant, and report it to Matt. If someone is physically ill on-site and cannot continue through the workday, send them home and advise them to see their doctor or go to the hospital. If you yourself are ill, let Matt know ASAP so we can make arrangements to oversee the work being done that day.
- Pinnacle Landscaping is a seasonal operation that is looking for hardworking individuals that are willing to work. No position is truer to that than our Foreman, who will be on shift throughout operating hours both working on-site with the team as well as overseeing and managing the workforce. You must be experienced and able to guide and mentor an overall less experienced group in the duties of performing high-quality landscaping work under an efficient schedule. You must manage the team and ensure everybody works hard and together. If there are issues on-site, you are first in the chain of command and if things escalate above you, you are to call Matt.
- We are looking for a Foreman who sets the pace on-site and will ensure that the team as a whole is working hard and working together. Must be willing to get dirty and down to business. This is a labor-intensive position, foreman included, and we need capable-bodied and willing people to come in with a good attitude and represent our business well. We want you to lead by example.
- Our foreman will need to leave the site at times to pick up or haul away loads and equipment using the company truck. It is crucial that there is direction set on-site with goals set prior so that work is not in any way disrupted in your absence. You must not let casual employees take this as “downtime”.
- Cell Phones - We aren’t going to say that there are no phones at all as everybody has emergencies, but when it’s work time, it’s work time. Unless there are exceptional circumstances to the situation, if you see someone texting that should be working it is an issue that you must immediately deal with. If this is a consistent issue with someone that you have to deal with too much, talk to Matt about it.
- Music is accepted as long as it is not an annoyance to the residents and it doesn’t affect productivity negatively. Use your personal judgment on this, as you are ultimately responsible for representing our company as a leader on the site, but feel free to bring a speaker out or allow headphones under safe conditions to do so. Headphones should not be used around heavy equipment.
