We are seeking a creative, dynamic, committed professional to join our team:
Team Manager - Indigenous Education

100% Regular

Monday - Friday, 35 hours per week

**Union Exempt Level 9**: $101,300 to $119,200 per annum

Reporting to the Superintendent of Instruction, Indigenous Education, the Team Manager, Indigenous Education is responsible for liaising with internal departments in support of student well-being, and establishing and maintaining strong community partnerships with Indigenous Elders, Knowledge Keepers, organizations and community groups within the region. The Team Manager supports the work plan of the Indigenous Education Circle, ensuring priorities identified by the IEC guide the work plans of the Student Support Coordinator team and the development of community partnerships to support First Nations, Inuit and Métis students. The Team Manager supports the Board in realizing its Strategic Plan priorities related to reconciliation, by supporting the development of culturally safe avenues of engagement for Indigenous families.

**Qualifications**:
Post secondary diploma or degree in Indigenous Services, Studies or similar and 5 - 6 years experience working in Indigenous communities or urban Indigenous organizations. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Lived experience deeply rooted in local Indigenous communities is required for the position.

Identification as a First Nation, Métis or Inuit community member and lived experience with systemic oppression is a requirement, with Algonquin identity an asset.

Ability to develop, nurture and extend relationships with Indigenous Elders, Knowledge Keepers, families, students, partners and community organizations.

Supervisory skills, and leadership experience for providing direction to program staff, including coaching, motivating staff; establishing priorities; observing and evaluating performance.

Strong oral and written communication skills for collaborating across departments, with school and community leaders, students and the IEC.

Strong conflict resolution skills required to navigate sensitive situations in productive ways.

Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, prioritizing tasks appropriately to ensure student needs are centered.

Understanding of protocols for respectfully engaging with various First Nations, as well as Inuk and Metis community members.

Knowledge of OCDSB Policies and Procedures related to the provision of services to Indigenous Students.

Knowledge of Indigenous Community resources and services.

Budget development and management experience.
