Employee and Labour Relations Advisor

Reporting to the Associate Director, the Employee and Labour Relations Advisor is responsible for supporting the Associate Director with investigations, employee relations and collective bargaining issues, including liaising with Managers and employees as required.
**Accountabilities**:
Supports with escalated ER/LR questions, concerns and issues
Leads workplace investigations and terminations
Coaches and advises Managers on complex performance management files
Grievance management
Supports the collective bargaining process
Manages complex disability management cases
Solid knowledge and understanding of HR policies and practices to support proactive approaches to employee relations cases, in a union and non-unionized environment
Coaches front line leaders to address employee needs
Maintains accurate case management process, records, case notes and documents
**Skills & Experience**:
3+ years of generalist HR knowledge on policies and processes
Completed post-secondary education, preferably in HR or Business Administration, working towards completion of HR designation an asset
Knowledge of union environment and collective bargaining agreements
Strong relationship management, effective listening, communication skills and interpersonal skills across all levels with commitment to providing timely responses
Sound judgment and problem-solving skills while mitigating risk to the organization
Strong attention to detail, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple initiatives and deadlines while meeting service level agreements
Adaptable and ability to work in a new and changing environment and learn quickly
Knowledge of employee data administration and end-to-end processes;
Knowledge of HR system, and ability to leverage basic technology functionality (e.g., case management, knowledge management).
Working knowledge of Workday an asset
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and approach highly sensitive situations with professionalism and calm
